A strict 'No Ex-Chelsea' policy would have saved this club from a lot of harm over the years, but here is a player currently unwanted and massively undervalued, performing to a high level a role which is extremely rare and expensive in the general market

The striker market is bonkers Maybe one solution is to go for that teenager who is bagging like crazy but doesn't quite profile as an out-&-out CF because that's not really much of a problem in an RDZ set up (loves a double false 9) (you can just bring Richarlison on when you need a battering ram)
Despite the majority of Mateus Fernandes' career spent roaming about from a number 8 role Despite Sandro Tonali having played much of his time at Newcastle as the deepest midfielder*. I think it makes most sense for Fernandes to be the default deepest receiver in an RDZ set up

Daniel Levy supposedly thinks that we've massively overpaid given that JPvH has one year on his contract and, in isolation, it's like yeah, definitely but this is the lesson Levy never seemed to learn: the elite European football market is not buying used cars...

Intended to talk Christian Eriksen on the pod today, but we overran. Wanted to say very glad to see he's doing well. Have to suspect this marks the end of his career and note what a brilliant career it's been. Marvellous player. Underrated in his time.

Scouting for strikers is very easy. You take active (more than 600mins) centre-forwards from the top 9 leagues. Rule out anyone that costs more than €80m or is older than 28. Then you work your way through the tape going "Wow, these guys re all bums"
