Update: we are still at Thunder of Michigan Fly-away day levels of air traffic out of KYIP. This cant just be normal Wolverine Air Force traffic. I suspect there was a large contingent of well-heeled sooner donors who came to Ann Arbor expecting to see the Woverines get housed.

John Mateer is another example of a college QB that, on name and vibes, feels like he's been around forever. He's a CFB vampire. He was rock solid with Purdue in the 80's. Remember him slinging for Utah St from '96-'99? His '04-'07 run with Washington St. doesn't get talked about enough.

The NFL is the most "nobody got fired for buying IBM" league exactly because of scenarios like this. The Rams might have had a legit awful game plan, a million things could have gone wrong here, and obviously did. But no coach, GM, or team will EVER try what the Rams did again.

Reminder; Matthew Stafford is the glo-stick QB. You have to crack him & shake him up real good for him to shine. Lions fans know that 4th quarter Stafford in a game where he went to the locker room before halftime was otherworldly. Stafford was not sacked in this game. (Also, time change. 100%)

But I will say that basically everyone this summer underrated the possibility that a 38-year old QB who isn't truly an all-time great would regress significantly due to age this year. It's a pretty plausible outcome.
