Fitts-Woolard Hall is taking part in the 2026 Lab Energy Challenge to reduce energy usage on campus. We've reduced our energy usage by 13.2%. Laboratory buildings use up to 10 times more energy than office buildings and utilize approximately 45% of total campus energy use.

NC State has been granted a $20 million award from the National Science Foundation to advance discovery in chemistry and materials science research. The Self-driving Platforms for Expedited Experimental co-Design (SPEED) lab will combine AI and robotics to design, conduct and analyze experiments.

The DOE awarded us $18.3 million to lead the Consortium for Reactor Safety Training. We will help expand the nuclear energy workforce by training the next generation. This is just the latest in a series of good news for the department after receiving $5 million total for research.
