In Nebraska, the Legislature writes the budget. The governor can sign it or veto it. Once signed, it’s law. Gov. Pillen is now seeking a blanket 5% cut, including $36M+ from NU, after signing it. Fiscal responsibility means changing the law, not rewriting it afterward.
