Only 25% voted in Greater Manchester Mayoral elections. This woeful turnout is a trend. Clearly little enthusiasm for City regional Mayors, who have thin democratic mandate. If Mayors are to receive more powers, then we need regional assemblies to deepen democractic accountability and scrutiny.

There is a buzzy cheerleading fraternity around the new UK Prime Minister, and a collective self satisfaction - 'we did it'! However, vaste swathes of the country are nonplussed. The PM needs to start emitting some detailed strategy, policies and plans to match the big change rhetoric.

Queen was also allegedly keen (and did?) give andrew £10million to pay off his sexual assault civil law case brought by epstein victim virginia giuffree. A scandal ignored. BBC News - Late Queen was 'very keen' for Andrew to be given trade envoy role www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Queen Elizabeth II was 'very keen' for Andrew to get UK trade envoy role

Newly released documents show that Queen Elizabeth had a "wish" for her son Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to take on a "prominent role".

Much mainstream UK centrist politics across centre left to right is not systemic. Its basically surface, with warm words, retail offering based on personality and gimicky policies. Trust me they say. However, their abiding partnership is with the UK establishement and their corporate donors.

Greater Manchester and all city regions in england have been working within devolution framed by neoliberalism. Austerity, financialisation, thinned democracy, city centre consumption and rentierism. Any progressive success in social, economic and environmental justice terms has been marginal.

Westminster bubble typically fixated on by-election and melodrama. Meanwhile Greater Manchester will now have a Mayoral election and Reform UK will be favorites. Last time there was a very low turnout (circa 32%)with only 1 in 5 of electorate voting for Labour and #burnham.

We should never forget, that Mandelson was and is a senior Labour figure. He was a close confidant and friend to many in labour cabinet. From powerful positions they wanted him as ambassador. Starmer and lammy should resign. www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cn...

Keir Starmer says it's 'staggering' he wasn’t told Mandelson failed security vetting - live updates

There is renewed anger about the ex-US ambassador's appointment after it emerged the Foreign Office did not tell the PM about Mandelson's vetting.

BBC News - King will not meet Epstein survivors on US visit. And King still not coming clean on whether late queen and royal family paid £10 million to cover Andrew's civil sexual assault lawsuit brought by Epstein victim- Victoria Giuffre and thus avoiding trial. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

King won't meet Epstein survivors, but state visit could help ease US-UK tensions

The US state visit will see the King heading into choppy diplomatic waters during London-Washington tensions.

Very few people in UK take Starmer seriously. He and the cabinet lack credibility. Countries abroad know it. The Uk government is a domestic and international liability and damaging the country's international reputation.
