Had a GB 1-3 just before this where I flooded out and had nothing to do with my mana, then to next play this deck where every turn I have a million options is night and day. Still want to be blue whenever possible for basically this reason.

And the Bronze to Mythic run is complete! (technically started in Silver end of Sept, but the rank reset shortly after means I would have been Bronze if I had waited a few days). 17 drafts, 73.4% winrate. Not bad I think!

One win away from Mythic after a 7-0 with UW splashy fliers. I've been splashing in slightly over half my drafts. UW is my most drafted deck, but never played any other W pair yet (on Arena at least). Hoping next week blue decks become a bit more contested and red aggro opens up

With Arena down, I finally have a good reason to post about the paper draft I hosted instead of playing more games! No PT for FRA, but still hosted a strong pod as usual last Wednesday (a day after arena release). Sadly had one person cancel last min so only pod of 7. 🧵

After 3 of my last 4 drafts were 6-3s, got a clean 7-0 with broken UG EJ. Couple wins from Kiora, the rest all from Fblthp as this deck just tore through it's library with ease, often discarding to hand size in the midgame. Been crushing FRA so far, we'll see if it continues!

Yes, yes, it must be nice to open Theorix pack 2 when you're already in UB and the lane is wide open. I've liked 16 land with multiple cyclers, and you never run out of stuff to do in these decks. Never got the Fblthp win, the 5 rares in the deck were too good at closing first 😅

I'm honestly not sure what land counts are supposed to be in decks like this. 16 land "felt" right with 2 landcyclers, 2 worth savings and a witchstalker. The deck is so full of 2 for 1s that I was outgrinding the blue decks, and Crude Bent Blade 2.0 is extremely good.

Draft 3, trophy 2 with Dubious Mana Abzan Graveyard (?!?). Couldn't decide which base 2 colours to lock in to, and eventually decided the landcyclers would save me. Was pretty good at both going wide and going fairly large, and Twisted Fates is quite the closer.

Lets see how long it takes to go from Silver to Mythic I guess? Draft 1, trophy 1 in the low ranks. Axe was solid but not great, Samut was impressive, Garruk was merely good.

Another 5-1, this time with RG. The games go long, both players play rares and you need stuff to do with your mana in to the super late game. In this case, had a crazy game with @fireshoes.bsky.social where I finally drew Yoshi when I had 5 heartwoods, 3 kraken and jiang to untap them 😳

Third draft and another success at 5-1 with UW surveil. Proft and Way of the Healer were both absolutely insane. Tam's resistance another overperformer. Also second deck I've played Traxos in, and people seem to be down on the card. Less impressed with foreseer

GB again for draft 2 and another 5-2. Format feels very grindy, games taking quite a while to finish (mostly) and lots of decisions from both players. Marwen has been crazy good

Sometimes I see the future! Was thinking about some of the rares this morning, posted this in the LLU discord and immediately drafted the deck. Started with 1 main and boarded in the second after g2. Ended up getting the 5-2 (stop at 5 for EA to jump in again). A+ format so far!

I've been pretty quiet on here recently, but FRA set review starting tonight in an hour on Twitch with @chordocalls.bsky.social! At a glance, it looks like it has the potential to be an all-timer, and we both have lots to say, so it could be a long one...

Mostly done with MSH, but very much interested in DSK flashbacks, and somehow trophied with this very medium RW deck. Started UW pack 1 but a couple Mayhems later decided to do the full pivot instead of splashing the red. Gameplay was great, as usual for DSK.

Normally, I write up long threads about some of the high level drafts I host/join ahead of Pro Tours, but with this set I have watched SO much World Cup that I just haven't had the free time. Instead, for MSH I'm going to do a bit called Pros and Cons. More clickbait-y... 🧵

Four hands are better than one? But not 5. Never 5... Deathtouch and card advantage is a potent combination, and I want to fill my decks with Power-Up cards. Five trophies in a row now, all U or W but very few straight UW. You still get rewarded for finding the open colour

Still having plenty of good games in the format, while also praying for pods to hopefully shift and rebalance in week 3. If they don't, these games are going to get old eventually... Got to pop off with Echo a bunch this draft, some wild comebacks thanks to mostly her.

Third 🏆 on the spin. Gameplay is great but drafting less so. Currently avoiding red and black unless I see rares (to great success). Loki continues to disguise himself as a Super Genius and just draws me a card every turn, sometimes on my turn and theirs with tapper or adaptoid.

Back to back 🏆, this time with UG and a light artifact package. The Ant-Man Armys triggering Moon Girl was nice, and Vision Quest is 100% worth the splash when you have a couple targets for it. UG also the best shell for Atlantis Attacks, which in turn really likes Falcon's Wings

Trophy with slightly sus mana GWr bombs. GGG, WW and R in the mana symbols is a bit much, but importantly all the cards in the deck are high impact. Worst performer was prob Okoye, which I would not have guessed pre-format (and she's still fine).

P1p1 Doom and held on despite black being cut. Pet Avengers were great, Synthoids is a nothing card but needed a 2, and Cloak and Dagger has really weird UI (lost a game due to "choosing" to take nothing when I declined from their hand, the creature goes off to the side)

My son, who knows very little about mtg, made me a Father’s Day (magic) card! Including me dealing with his lunch bag, cleaning up his stuffed animals, coaching his soccer team and doing the laundry while dealing with my 3 month long injury lol
