I’ve experienced a (positive) mental health transformation over the last 12 month and sometimes, like today… I feel a bit strange and then realise it’s the absence of depression and I’m now able to access a whole new palette of emotional richness.

Ah yes… tis the season when the fragrance of grilled beef wafts through the streets of Wellington.
NZIFF ticketing website is shitting itself on day 1 of presale. Happens every year but still enrages the ‘must book tickets the millisecond they are available’ crew ie moi
Sublime weirdness from Orchestra of Spheres at Lōemis Festival.
Achievement unlocked: quoted Rocky Horror in a Quaker Meeting
Have resolved to flirt with every butch woman I see while I am in Sydney for a week. Mind you I am staying at my parents’ retirement facility, which reduces my options somewhat.
I was in the public gallery yesterday and as Bishop (in Willis's place) was saying they'd find efficiencies through implementing digitization and AI, an opposition MP (couldn't see who) shouted "who's going to do that?". I was opposite ACT's Simon Court who kept shouting "the computer will do it!" 🤦♀️
The 8 hour working day is about 2.5 hours too long for my brain.
Cracked into my first batch of homemade kimchi. May not be 100% traditional, but heck it’s good! Egg and kimchi sandwich for wfh lunch so yum.
Nadia Reid provided the perfect soundtrack to this morning’s ride to Eastbourne along Tupua Horo Nuku, the new Eastern Bays bike path. I am constantly reminded of how fortunate I am and what a privilege it is to call this place my home.
Blue skies in Pōneke for today’s Hīkoi for Peace. And powerful messages… as the paradigms we grew up with crumble around us… what are we doing to shape what grows from the ashes?
Feels fundamentally unjust to simultaneously be thirsty and have to pee.
Fun April 25 AM activity… sitting in a supermarket carpark watching endless streams of punters shuffling up to the door, getting confused when the automatic door doesn’t open, belatedly noticing the ‘We open today at 1pm’ signs, then spending far too long peering in in disbelief and longing.
Day 3 of new job, boss puts Mountain Goats on the office speakers because I mentioned they’re my fav band. 🥹
Great outing to the Dowse Gallery with members of the Welly Autistic Professionals Network. A guided tour of the gallery followed but a choice of art activities and much earnest discussion of Star Wars.
Brand new library card. You get a choice of images… of course I went the octopus option.
🩸It’s donation day.🩸 Is it weird that I love seeing my blood in a bag? All ready to zoom off to someone who needs it. If you’re eligible, its a great thing to do for your community www.nzblood.co.nz
@themountaingoats.bsky.social Thanks so much for a glorious gig in Welly tonight. Superb set, and ending with Up the Wolves? I almost fell off the balcony in joy. It’s such a long way for you to come but I think you know how much it means to us.
Having some major feelings about seeing this band tonight. Last time it was a different country and I was a different person with a different name. But their music links the person I was to the person I am in a way I can’t ignore.
I don't know how to explain to the people who pop up when creatives complain about "AI" to say there are legit uses for it just how much they sound like someone saying "Well actually fire is used to make bread" when people are talking about an organized arson ring burning down their fucking houses
The National Party: you’re on your own. Māoridom: our Marae are open. This year, vote for Te Tiriti #nzpol
This is the HEART of Aotearoa/New Zealand - a cyclone threatening us by tomorrow and already marae are ready and willing to welcome anyone. They have such value and deserve the rest of us to support them.💜 #AoNZ #marae #Māori #cyclone
My platform is legal, low dose amphetam1nes specifically for gen xers going to gigs with doors opening at 8 and a support act.
Beautiful day at the market… man walking through with very grumpy expression… was very tempted to tell him he’d look so much prettier if he smiled.
Mary Wollstonecraft warned you that women who are only objects of pity and love, due to their “fascinating graces,” their “soft phrases, susceptibility of heart, [and] delicacy of sentiment” — in a word, due to their weakness (and not strength) — “will soon become objects of contempt.”
Men who favor the tradwife lifestyle often view the women in it with derision
