The White House Correspondents Dinner should end. At the very least, the president should be barred from entry, forcibly, forever more. He disgraced it permanently, as was utterly predictable. It was a forum of humiliation; for reporters, for the president and for the republic. It cannot be saved.

Actual journalism is not being replaced by artificial intelligence, because an AI can't reliably and credibly gather news. AI slop is distinguished from reporting by ... well, reporting. Interviews. Verifiable photographs of events. Perhaps that will change. Right now, I question if it can.

My answer to the US Supreme Court is a bit radical, but I think it would work. No more permanent justices. Instead, have the sitting justices from each circuit nominate one of their members for confirmation every two years. Two year terms, no more than once in a lifetime.

Without a federal law that explicitly establishes the rights of trans athletes, states are free to block them from participating on teams matching their gender identity. They are also free, it seems, to establish that right without a federal law explicitly blocking them. For now.
