I do not like living in interesting times.

Quite a lot of people lost someone, maybe an elderly relative, during the heatwave. My Aunt Barbara, very ill with advanced dementia, died yesterday aged 91. She was unmarried, no kids and I had been taking care of her affairs for the past few years. That’s the least interesting thing about her. 1

Please, Let me be three again. Let my parents put me to bed in stocking feet, Where the light burns in the corner, To chase away the night dreams.

This is not my cat. I just met this cat. I'm a cat person, but I've started to realize that torties and calicos take a particular shine to me.

Post's author with a very entitled cat sitting on his lap.Cat cuddling me while sinking her claws into my leg. Cat sinking her claws even more deeply into my leg.

My political temperament has been pacifistic all my life. Never again. I never want to hear a Democrat so much as whisper the word "bipartisanship." After the last quarter century, any candidate who doesn't have a wrathful thirst for justice that will never be quenched doesn't have my vote.

My cat Jem is Exhibit A for the former. He's indoor/outdoor (because I was an idiot when I first got him, and he's too stubborn to give up his freedom). He's 16, and aside from surviving through sheer spite, one of his greatest joys in life is murdering rodents and leaving them for me to find.
