Trump’s own appointees asked the government’s election security agency to secretly hack a voting machine and send the results to the White House. Thankfully, the career staff refused. And the people who actually could have done it had been laid off by DOGE. open.substack.com/pub/adamkinz...

#ResistanceRoots Jibreel Khazan was born on this day in 1941 in Greensboro, N.C. He is the last surviving member of the Greensboro Four, college students who staged a sit-in at a segregated lunch counter at an F.W. Woolworth’s store in Greensboro. He has dedicated his career to human services. /1

Dr. Jibreel Khazan in 2015, reflecting on the 55th anniversary of the Greensboro sit-in. In the background is a black-and-white photo of the Greensboro Four. His rare trajectory of courage began with a world-changing spark of youth activism and evolved into six decades of grassroots service. He helped prove the power of ordinary citizens to disrupt systemic oppression, providing the tactical blueprint that decentralized the civil rights movement and paved the way for the creation of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. Instead of fading into obscurity after that first flash of fame, he reclaimed his identity through Islam and quietly spent his adulthood working as a vocational counselor and educator. Khazan is a powerful reminder that history can be made by regular people who possess the courage to sit down for justice when it matters most, and the humility to stand up for the vulnerable every day thereafter.

Missouri Republicans control virtually every lever of state government, but voters and the courts keep getting in their way. Now the GOP is targeting the systems that give both their power: the state’s judge selection process.

Here's the most famous reference of the quote of John F. Kennedy's to which Abdul El-Sayed is referring (12:49 time mark) "For contrary to common newspaper usage, I am not the catholic candidate for president. I am the Democratic party's candidate for president, who happens also, to be a catholic."
