The problem is, even if there is a process, it relies on people being transparent and the senate enforcing the rules. And that is clearly not going to happen in this regime.
Talarico’s argument is simple: Stop treating marijuana like a crime. Legalize it. Regulate it. Tax it. Stop wasting police resources on low-level marijuana offenses. Clear the records of people whose lives have been derailed by nonviolent marijuana convictions.
Notice DOJ doesn't talk about its efforts to obtain state voter files anymore. They are 0-20 in those cases and today is the beginning of the quiet period -- states can no longer do systematic removals of names from the voter rolls. TLDR: We won!🥳

It is expected to provide the first account of what the commission has found about Zorro Ranch, why the allegations connected to it were never prosecuted, and whether state or federal officials failed to act.
@nmdoj.bsky.social’s complaint alleges that "the federal government has refused, without adequate legal justification, to share records that could help investigators identify witnesses, corroborate evidence, and determine the full scope of crimes that occurred in New Mexico."

Haley Stevens was out with a gracious concession and a commitment to support Abdul El-Sayed within about one hour of the AP call in her race. If she can buck up first thing in the morning, everyone else can. That’s actual political leadership.

No surprise, but Speaker Johnson says he’s standing behind Max Miller — despite the very credible allegations of domestic abuse from Miller’s ex-wife and daughter. Absolutely vile human beings.
I think we need to brace ourselves for a new and more extreme outbreak of racism and Islamophobic slurs from Trump and the GOP as they head into a Fall election in which their prospects are deservedly grim. Hate is their stock-in-trade and they'll be slinging it big time.

You could have voted to impeach in January 2000. Instead, you voted for no witnesses and no documents to be allowed at trial. You are a failed person, Cornyn.
Gill: All 100 senators last week passed a non-binding resolution condemning any pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell. They're simultaneously considering confirming the guy who met with her and moved her to a low-security facility as the top cop in the United States. That is so insane to me.
