Haley Stevens was out with a gracious concession and a commitment to support Abdul El-Sayed within about one hour of the AP call in her race. If she can buck up first thing in the morning, everyone else can. That’s actual political leadership.

we're on the cusp of seeing the highest ever national average this late in the year- 2022 was the previous record 8/5/22: $4.069/gal 8/5/26: $4.066/gal In the next couple days, 2022's average will likely fall below the same day in 2026, leading to the highest late-summer average.
Something I think those of us who grew up in 90s or earlier are going to have to internalize — and will always struggle to remember — is that US voters no longer accept the fiction that politics is a contest between liberal and conservative ideas, rather than faction-based culture war by other means

Deva Woodly@devawo.bsky.social · 7h agoI’m telling you this as a political scientist. The person who is electable is the one who is elected. This can and does change over time. Any and all speculation about “electability” is either puffery or anxiety and is often both.
That’s a lot of votes. Presidential-level turnout in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate.

Recent reports have been much friendlier to AES after moving toward Stevens from a very aggressive AES early pool of returns. Not looking like Wayne has enough left for Stevens but you never know. I have an 8 week old so I’m going to bed (but she’s gonna wake me up at 3 so I’ll check back then…)

Those McMorrow voters really do throw a wrench in this. If Stevens had those votes, it would be “this could come to a recount.” If El-Sayed had them, the race might already be called.

There are more than 4,000 colleges and universities in the United States. Hundreds of them are *excellent* institutes of higher learning providing diverse experiences for millions of students. The New York Times is exclusively interested in (and relentlessly critical of) just 8 of those schools.
