One of our favorite biology facts: A slime mold plasmodium is a single cell. Not a colony. Not thousands of cells. One enormous multinucleate cell that slowly crawls through the forest before transforming into fruiting bodies. Nature never stops surprising us. #Myxomycetes #Biology

Most people walk right past them. Slime molds (#Myxomycetes) aren't fungi—they're #amoeboid organisms that spend part of their lives as giant single cells before producing intricate fruiting bodies only millimeters tall. Once you start looking, forests become very different places. #SlimeMolds
