I'm back! I've been self-hosting Mastodon on my own domain and homelab for the last month and a half. The only problem is my ISP’s data cap, interacting with accounts from a large servers completely eat up my FUP quota. [1/2]

Ragnarok TNW is playable on Linux! 🥰 Speaking of Ragnarok, I really miss my Ragnarok X guild. During COVID, we played almost every day and stayed in the Discord voice room all day, truly felt like a family. 😭 #gaming

Is there a way to make #firefox run in the background so I can receive web push notifications even my browser is closed?

VS Code is merging a change that enables AI co-authoring by default. This automatically adds 'Co-Authored-by Copilot' to your commits, raising valid privacy and tracking concerns. When your tools belong to a massive corporation, your data does too. It is a great time to explore telemetry-free, open-source alternatives. 🧑💻 https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/pull/310226 #vscode #opensource

✅ I just completed the 12 Days Of Coding on Hyperskill! #HyperskillChallenge
Spent my New Year’s Eve having a BBQ with family. It was REALLY LOVELY! I also did my New Year's traditions: rewatched the Harry Potter series and started a new farm on Stardew Valley. Other than that, I didn’t do much else tbh 😅
Feishin just got an update! Auto DJ (add similar songs after the queue ends) and save/restore queue :BlobCat_Love: https://github.com/jeffvli/feishin/releases/tag/v1.0.1

RE: https://mastodon.social/@nixCraft/115796913743444159 This has been getting worse lately. When I ended my Spotify subscription, I thought YouTube Music would be fine since it's included with my YouTube Premium subscription. However, it turns out that the algorithm constantly feeds me AI music.

New research says that more than one out of every five videos YouTube suggests to new people is "AI junk or slop" These are low-quality videos made by AI just to get clicks and views. They checked the top 100 channels in every country and found that 278 of them post nothing but this computer made junk generating about $117m a year for channel owners. How long google can continue with AI slop? Are humans so boarded out that they are now watching computer generated junk? https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2025/dec/27/more-than-20-of-videos-shown-to-new-youtube-users-are-ai-slop-study-finds

RE: https://mastodon.social/@DankLinux/115705050752013353 After daily driving KDE with the default config for over 4 years, I'll try niri with DMS today, and use it for a few months. The scrolling WM caught my eye.

The DMS Team is happy to present DMS v1.0! A modern Wayland Shell built w/Quickshell, and optimized for niri. A special thanks to @YaLTeR@mastodon.online for collaborating with the DMS team, for niri - the compositor that inspired DMS, and for hosting DMS on the niri Discord. https://danklinux.com/blog/v1-release

Bought this Xiaomi phone ~4 years ago for development purposes, and the community maintaining these devices is awesome, it just got a pretty stable Android 16 build this week. My only complaint for these devices is the build quality 🙃
They really listened to everything :blobconcerned: https://localmess.github.io/
Covert Web-to-App Tracking via Localhost on Android
How does this work? While there are subtle differences in the way Meta and Yandex bridge web and mobile contexts and identifiers, both of them essentially misuse the unvetted access to localhost sockets. The Android OS allows any installed app with the INTERNET permission to open a listening socket on the loopback interface (127.0.0.1). Browsers running on the same device also access this interface without user consent or platform mediation. This allows JavaScript embedded on web pages to communicate with native Android apps and share identifiers and browsing habits, bridging ephemeral web identifiers to long-lived mobile app IDs using standard Web APIs.

The peace is over. A worthy opponent finally appears. Wish me luck :Blobhaj_Innocent:
I should consider using CMS instead of a static web generator. Always spent a lot of time customizing things instead of writing 😭
Interesting, will try it tomorrow :blobgamer: https://www.gamesradar.com/games/simulation/concernedape-doesnt-really-try-stardew-valley-mods-but-read-an-article-about-the-larian-approved-baldurs-gate-3-mashup-and-thinks-its-cool/
ConcernedApe doesn't "really try Stardew Valley mods," but "read an article about" the Larian-approved Baldur's Gate 3 mashup and thinks "it's cool"
He's "seen pictures" of Baldur's Village

Playing around with my old laptop, and transformed it into a home server 📡 I originally wanted to use it for learning k8s with minikube, turns out it's not capable enough 😭 So I installed jellyfin for media server instead, and kavita for reading ebooks :abunhdhappyhop:
Watching Pewdiepie's latest video reminds me of my early days using Linux, almost spent a week doing ricing 😅. Now I'm not even changing a single setting on KDE 🤣
