TEN SLEEP was longlisted for a Latinx literary prize. The REFORMA National Book Award. A nice validation that to be dual ethnic is to be something special even if you're not fully one ethnicity . . . Didn't win, but that's okay!
Seems fitting that the landlords destroyed my lil bird habitat on Earth Day. Sigh.
Some multi-posts from Jay Bushman on Twitter's early days when some of us used micro-blogging as a publishing platform for literature. Not sure what that all did for my career besides getting me mentioned in news articles and what not, but the experiment was still worth it thanks to folks like Jay.
Back in the early days of Twitter, I met a few other folks experimenting with the platform for telling stories, and we traded notes. (Shout out to @nicholasbelardes.bsky.social). Then, once a year like clockwork, someone would come onto the platform to announce. “The First Twitter Novel.”

Finally went to go see this local celeb—Lewis’s Woodpecker. 🪶
Unless this is some mega-rare Yellow-rumped Warbler from Mexico or Guatemala, just gonna assume a hybrid Audubon’s x Myrtle with that throat pattern and bizarre chip call. 🪶
Saw a Tundra Swan today—I wasn’t the finder. 🪶
Doesn’t get any weirder than finding a Yellow-breasted Chat in someone’s back patio condo tree. It then flew down into another tiny condo back patio. Wild place for one of these skulky birds. First Meadow Park record here in SLO County. 🥹🪶🐥
Ever want a size/color comprison between a Lucy’s Warbler and a Bushtit? Here you go. 🪶
