Seems like every new prospect we brought in has hit the ground running... Very exciting haul of guys.
It is not inconceivable that Jared Young would be the starting 1B for the 2027 NY Mets coming out of camp if there weren't going to be a strike next year.
Tong getting absolutely shelled. Not good. I'm really starting to lose faith in him. It's not even just the new cutter, he's getting hit on all his pitches...
Mitch Voit is absolutely RAKING at AA. His OPS is > 1.500
One frustration is this would have been a great time to eat some money and move off Polanco, Manaea, & Robert Jr. I don't think it was possible to move Semien's deal, so I don't fault that. If you aren't going to eat $$ to move them, then Baty and Vientos should have been put for sale.
I'll work on doing a short & long term view of each position, but I am VERY concerned about corner infield. I see the vision fo OF & middle IF. I think they have some nice arms (but still need some FA/trades), but sans Rojas, I don't see a prospect I like at corner IF. Will have to be FA/trades.
Didn't think Jefferson Rojas was on the table. That's a lot of red (!). The cream of the crop of what we got back. Well done by Stearns & co. on this one.
Mets Trade 6: RHP Clay Holmes and OF Tyrone Taylor to CHC for 3B Jefferson Rojas Rojas is a top 100 prospect (currently ranked 63rd) who is a T50 guy based on FV. I'm listing him at 3B despite his middle infield history as I do not see this org putting a sub-par defender there. Has the arm for 3B
Last domino to fall is Clay Holmes. Last chance to get a T100 guy!
Luke Weaver to the Pirates. Awaiting the return. Can we get Murf Gray back, pretty please? Has T40 prospect upset & position of need (!!)
If Brewers want Clay, please bring me back Andrew Fischer and put him at 1B in AA immediately. Alexander Frias an interesting name outside their top 10 that could easily be a T100 guy in the near future, as well.
Mets Trade 4: LHP Brooks Raley to PHI for OF John Spikerman and RHP Luke Gabrysh One fringe top 30 prospect and a throw-in. For trading a legit lefty bullpen arm .. in division .. to a team competing for a WS... If you're going to get nothing back, at last get it from a non-rival!
I'm sorry this Raley trade makes absolutely no sense to me...
Mets Trade 3: RHP Huascar Brazobon to CHW for RHP Gabe Davis and RHP Zach Franklin. 1 interesting toolsy prospect for a RP closing in on 40 is well done IMO. Gabe Davis sits upper 90's and is a staggering 6'9. Some actual potential after getting him into the lab.
Insane stat: Yankees have the best run differential in the AL (+87) 2nd? The "we are so bad we are trading our ace pitcher" Detroit Tigers (+63)
Mets Trade 2: RHP Freddy Peralta to Tampa Bay for OF Aiden Smith, RHP Gary Gill Hill, and 2B Emilien Pitre. Nobody that was in the top 10 in their system. Prize is Aiden Smith, but Pitre is having an intriguing season. Again, looks like Mets sticking to their word not eating money.
