This beautiful cocoon is built by “Fairy lamp spider” Agroeca brunnea. She weaves an inverted wine glass shaped egg sac from silk and covers in mud to disguise. Inside are two chambers, one for her eggs and the other a nursery. Amazing

Had several hours on the Berkshire downs near Churn and half an hour with JJ one of Montagu’s harrier fledged in England in 2025, what an absolute delight to see a Monty fledged in England and gracing our countryside. Also splendid group of birders.
