I can't tell if this is an embarrassing mistake on Google's part, or a nice meta-commentary on Americans' ability to pronounce things. #isaias

Is this the saddest case of Mohawk-Hudson Convergence in history?
TFW you know you're a good meteorologist, and so are positive you can take your daughter on a one mile walk to a playground. Bonus points for the rain waiting until we arrived.
If the prerequisites for renaming a lake "Lake America" is that most of the water is in the US and the deepest part is in the US, then we're going to have to rename thousands of other lakes. This would be like Russia trying to upset us by renaming Lake Baikal, "Lake Russia". Equally stupid.
Holy shit — the purpose of this Trump event is to announce that he’s changing the name of Lake Ontario to “Lake America.” It will be interesting to see which if any institutions and companies go along with this
The supreme court can not be considered anything but an extension of the Republican party at this point. They consistently overturn lower courts & ignore prior precedent (Purcell principle, etc). The one constant is rulings that make it easier for Republicans to win elections. Pack the court.
#BREAKING: Over dissents from the three Dem. appointees, #SCOTUS has *granted* the Trump administration’s request to freeze a district court injunction that had blocked the mail-in ballots executive order. But Trump’s EO remains blocked by a different injunction in a different case—at least for now:
The English ambassador must be calling up Trump right now, asking how much of his cryptocurrency they need to buy to reverse that decision.
Sure, it was literally the warmest overnight in 10+ years in NYC, which by definition happens no more frequently than 1/(90*10) days, but go ahead, trivialize it as "it's called summer". Oh BTW: this will likely be the most deadly weather event in NY this entire year.
I'm issuing an extreme "It's called summer" warning this week, as mouthbreathers online everywhere are expected to reply to social media accounts posting about heat this week.
There's no good reason these should not be the same decision, but the corrupt Supreme Court does whatever it wants. Here they're basically saying "Trump can do whatever he wants as long as it doesn't risk affecting rich people's finances", which is very on brand for them.
We have Slaughter and Cook. By a 6–3 vote, SCOTUS overturns Humphrey's Executor and lets Trump fire heads of independent agencies. But by a 5–4 vote, it refuses to let him fire Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p... www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...

This is a really impressive line of thunderstorms across NY, right? Numerous severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings. But are they thunderstorms? There has been no lightning across southern NY! The IR satellite doesn't even show any "colors" in the line, indicating these are shallow storms. #nywx
I'm not sure our spammers are sending their best. In this installment, they literally created a fake email address named "noreply" .... and asked me to reply to it. 🤔
The evolution of this *very* slow-moving band of precipitation is really interesting on radar (this animation is ~7 hours long). The band's northeastern gradient sharpens while sitting over the radar site (black dot), which is probably both real and magnified by its location relative to the radar.
I have an important update on the topic of @cnn.com article headlines about the hantavirus:
I have an unending morbid fascination with bad @cnn.com headlines. This article is apparently about the scourge of people telling others *not* to freak out about hantavirus, and how that itself is causing a freakout. 🫠
It's subtle, but the showers over Albany seem to be coming from two sources: note how some move to the southeast, whereas others move the opposite direction. The former seems to be due to weak Mohawk-Hudson Convergence (+low-level saturation) while the latter is due to above-surface processes.

There are 2 sets of rules: those that apply to democrats, & those that apply to republicans. In VA, their SC overruled voters who wanted to change their maps. In FL, their SC is about to allow their legislature to change their maps, despite voters *banning* mid-decade redistricting. Rinse/repeat.
Nick Bassill tells Bluesky he considers dad bod "terminated" despite presence of flab around his waist.
BREAKING via the AP White House officially tells Congress it considers Iran war 'terminated' despite presence of US armed forces in region.
Not exactly your standard 6-7AM radar animation, even by midwest standards.
There's something morbidly metaphorical about a collection of generally syncophantic journalists at the Whitehouse Correspondents' Dinner reporting (incorrectly) that the shooter was dead, while also largely being in the same room as the event in question. Let's just end this event please.
This is an immensely dystopian story about layoffs at Meta because of AI. There is a WIDE OPEN lane for a political party to go all-in hammering increased job losses, utility bills, environmental harm, and bloated corporate debt due to the quest for pervasive AI. www.wsj.com/tech/ai/behi...
It's somewhat taboo to discuss, but *an* issue for (federal) democrats is that they have a massive gerontocracy problem. While 80+ year olds *can* be effective (see my last post), counting on them to be is unwise. Having 4 deaths in 15 months is insane, & not good for opposing Trump's lawlessness.
4 Democratic members of the House have died in office since this Congress started in January 2025. (That's roughly 2 percent of the Democratic caucus elected in November 2024.)
Truly remarkable that an 82 year old woman in Virginia is such a more effective politician than the literal Democratic house and senate leaders.
Has anyone else had an explosion of linkedin "friend" requests in the past two weeks? I don't post there, and am a relative nobody, but I've had ~3 requests per day for about 10 straight days. Only one has been from someone I know or have heard of. Some sort of algorithm change?
What's the awful almost-typo you frequently almost-do, but catch before sending that email? Mine is typing "busy" but accidentally hitting the "t" next to the "y" to make it "busty" (e.g. "It's been a busty week").
This is such an embarrassing time to be an American. Every headline worse than the one before it. Worse of all, this was an easily predictable result of electing Trump.

Every #MarchMadness: CBS: Yo, for your viewing pleasure, for the next minute we're going to switch to the most random camera angle possible, where you can't tell what happens and have no depth perception. And we'll do it at random a few more times this game! Enjoy!
Alternate headline: Republican justices seem skeptical of allowing people to vote on or before Election Day.
This is why people hate Duke basketball. Regardless of the skill disparity, opposing teams of lesser name cache are routinely just not allowed to try to win against them in March Madness due to call disparities. There's a reason my bracket is called "2015 Championship Truther". 😂
