For me, open research means sharing knowledge in diverse ways, through diverse channels, to a diverse audience; and it does not mean complying with mandates to deposit incomplete manuscripts in institutional repositories that audiences will never find. #UKRN2026
A nostaligic - and uncharacteristically sunny - walk across town from Victoria Station - I used to live and work in Manchester, and do in fact hail from this side of the Pennines (don't mention back in Yorkshire 🤫)

As data becomes more central to research, thoughtful management and curation from the very start of a project is essential. While the FAIR principles are often confused with open data, the session highlighted the important distinctions — and how they work together to strengthen research practice.
We enjoyed a great session on FAIR data yesterday! Head of @water.leeds.ac.uk Gabriela Lopez-Gonzalez, joined Nick Sheppard and Scott McLaughlin at the Edward Boyle Library to deliver a presentation on implementing the FAIR Principles
