Does anyone else get the yips when dropping old clothes into a clothes bin chute? Like, “what if my passport inexplicably made its way into the jumble?!” 😭

Worst concert trolling ever: A friend of mine managed to get into the raised VIP area at a sold-out Radiohead concert and took great delight in loudly asking “Who is this band again?” every few minutes.

Andy Burnham is the first UK Prime Minister to have studied English Literature at university. As such, he has a unique opportunity to debunk the lazy, cliched dismissal of arts graduates, and the chance to restore the humanities to their rightful place at the centre of public life. NO PRESSURE. 💅

Over on Insta, the Royal Horicultural Society wrote a nice comment on Pamela Anderson’s video of her garden and someone replied: “Never mind the celebrity sycophancy. People are getting tired of it. Bring back Geoff Hamilton and show people how to grow potatoes.”

Watched Grey Gardens (original 1975 documentary) for the first time today after several kind folk told me it was on YouTube. It could have been made for me in a lab. Doomed glamour, reversal of fortune pathos, camp wit, high drama and everything in between. Plus raccoons. ADORE.

Ordered a 20-piece toolkit without checking the dimensions. It’s just arrived. The spirit level is the size of a pencil sharpener. It includes a teeny hammer that’s just right for testing for your knee reflexes (which, to be fair, I’ve always wanted). Spinal Tap-level incompetence on my part.

A good rule for social media commentary, I think, is to take an honest run at the question: “Whose approval am I seeking to gain and what outcome am I hoping to achieve by publicly posting this?” Judging by today, I suspect it’s not a question that crosses everyone’s mind.

Arthur Fery - wildcard entrant, grew up a stone’s throw from the All England Lawn Tennis Club - has booked his place in the Wimbledon quarter finals, watched from the Royal Box by Roger Federer. 🎾 🍓 Boy’s Own Stuff.

Visited the museum during my day at Wimbledon yesterday. I loved looking at memorabilia, and particularly the apparel. The size of original Lacoste logo always makes me laugh. SUBTLE BRANDING. 🎾 🍓

Looked at the highlights of yesterday’s play at Wimbledon and caught some courtside footage of me spectating. Not the biggest news story of the tournament, but I was not overly pleased with my hair.

“The Ooh-Aah bird is so-called because it lays square eggs.” Margo Ledbetter is one of the great comic creations in a golden age of British sitcoms. Matchless cast chemistry built on genuine friendship. Farewell to the wonderful, wonderful Penelope Keith.

Happy 60th trip around the sun to the great John Cusack. Responsible for countless memorable movie moments, but none more imprinted on my youthful mind than him earnestly serenading Ione Skye by blasting ‘In Your Eyes’ from a boombox while wearing the most 80s outfit imaginable.

Just caught up on Later with Jools Holland. Shania Twain arranging her face in a suitable expression as she took in the avante garde, math rock stylings of Angine de Poitrine was QUITE SOMETHING.
