We’re all in the gutter and most of us are looking at our phones. Gay Anglo-Catholic monarchist gadfly in NYC One of the Tiresome Liturgical Gays™️

I am so in the weeds with iced coffee, masks, canes, and quasi-hijabs. What accessory am I expected to have an opinion on next? Can it please be ascots?

The first time I met her, she was Bishop of London. So if you’re looking for a promotion, you could make worse choices than hanging out with me ⚓️

The author with The Most Reverend and Right Honourable Lord Archbishop of Canterbury.

I am increasingly of the opinion that revising the 1979 Book of Common Prayer and The Hymnal 1982 would be not so much opening a can of worms as opening the Ark of the Covenant 👻👻👻😱🫠 ⚓️

It was Miriam the Prophetess who led the song of redemption when Israel was freed from slavery in Egypt at the Red Sea. It was another Miriam - Mary, Apostle to the Apostles - who bore the good news of redemption when the whole world was freed from slavery to Death at the empty tomb. ⚓️

So Matt Damon’s father is of British ancestry and his mother is of Scandinavian descent. Odd how no one is complaining about him playing the King of Ithaca…

Today in 1794, in what the Roman Martyrology calls “the Gallic Perturbation,” the 16 Carmelite sisters of Compiègne were martyred beneath the national razor. They went to their deaths singing Salve Regina. All ye holy martyrs, pray for us! ⚓️

An icon of the martyrdom of the Carmelites of Compiègne. One nun is walking upon the steps to the guillotine guarded by two executioners. The other 15 nuns are standing and kneeling ans praying at the foot of the scaffold. In the top right corner, Jesus is show in the clouds blessing them. The text “Your mercy is confirmed over us” is written in French on the side.

Their Catholic Majesties together with the Princess of the Asturias and Infanta Sofia will be in attendance at Sunday’s World Cup Final. I would be OK with a Spanish victory if it meant our wannabe king would be eclipsed on the stage by the glory of a real one!

Left to right: Leonor, Princess of the Asturias, His Majesty King Felipe Vi of Spain, Queen Letizia, and Infanta Sofia

My preferred team in this match didn’t win. One of two things happened: 1) Spain played very well and France did not maximize their full potential. 2) #FIFA, Adidas, Nike, the Illuminati, the Lizard People, and the Greys of Zeta Reticuli rigged the match. 🤔 #WorldCup

I am shocked that one of the most corrupt politicians in history and one of the most corrupt international organizations in history have colluded to be corrupt together.

My working definition of “Protestant” has always been “Western Christian independent of the Papacy” so I’m pleased to welcome the Society of St. Pius X into the Protestant fold 🤗 ⚓️

They keep trying so hard to make “FIFA World Cup” happen - but we all just want to watch football without being constantly reminded of the fantastically corrupt syndicate that manages it. It’s just the “World Cup.” #WorldCup

As both Democrats and Republicans are losing their shot over the stupid term “democratic socialism,” I propose an alternative slogan that gets the main idea across without confusing connotations: “BE LIKE DENMARK!”

“Just remember that after Christ was crucified on the cross, and all his men had gone home, it was women who stayed with him to the bitter end, and it was women who first heralded the news of his resurrection - so just put that in your pulpit and smoke it.” Designing Women S2 E20 ⚓️

Not feeling Pentecost today. I’ve been burned out at my parish for years. All of my friends have drifted away and now the rector I love is leaving for good for the literal opposite point on the globe. I’m just so tired. ⚓️

499 years ago, 189 Swiss Guards fought off mutinous soldiers of Emperor Charles V to save the Pope; 147 of them died. They’re remembered in a total banger by Sabaton. The sack of Rome made the Pope wary of pissing off the Emperor again, such as giving an annulment to his aunt’s English husband… ⚓️

I like serving at Requiems because they are a kindness that cannot be repaid in this life. But also, they are an acknowledgment and a defiance of death. A Requiem Mass is basically middle finger to the Reaper ⚓️

On this feast of St Philip and James, the latter apostle is mentioned in TEC’s Office and Eucharist lectionaries together a total of exactly zero times! The less said about James the Less the better, I guess! ⚓️
