Donald Trump and every one of his appointees and cabinet members and advisors must be destroyed financially, stripped of literally all their money and assets, and denied all future government employment. Let them live off of whatever UBI and public housing/health care they can scrounge up.

This is a big one that I think many people don't fully appreciate. Given a room of 1,000 people, it can be hard for one person to find and help those who need the most help. Give everyone UBI and watch as more than half the room leaves, because they only needed a bit of money. Those left need more.

This whole debacle is another reason why I'm champing at the bit for UBI. If everybody gets their basic needs met without eligibility & compliance hoops to jump through, they won't be clogging up the pipes for the people who need extra assistance.

Universal basic income ensures that everyone has the ability to express basic demand for basic goods and services. This is market improving. Markets can't differentiate between 0 and Ø. A store can fail because not enough customers. But is that because they didn't like it or they did but were broke?

South Korea's UBI pilot shows major success 1 year. Local businesses grew by 2,000 and rural population went up 4.7%. Most of the money was spent, causing "an increase in new businesses in essential services such as restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, and hair and beauty salons."

Article reporting rural basic income increased local businesses including restaurants, cafés, supermarkets and salons.

The food people need is in grocery stores. They just need the permission slips (cash) to access it. Food banks should not exist. They are a symptom of failed policy. They exist because universal basic income doesn't. We need UBI and it's a fight because the people doing this are doing it on purpose:

NEW: Food banks across America are being overwhelmed by surging demand. Scott MacFarlane went inside to see the crisis firsthand. Here’s what he found:

This is why it's such nonsense for anyone to say that with UBI, people will lose meaning. First, jobs aren't any source of meaning for many people with jobs. Second, the jobs people can't say no to are in the way of a getting a lot of meaningful work done. And third, the rich seem to find meaning.

THIS is what UBI is for: freeing us up to do what matters to each cleaning up public areas? producing art? volunteering at a shelter - animal or human? caring for a family member, mentoring, teaching, or just being able to *rest*

The take that UBI is bad because it would make us need government is bad. The same argument could be used against doing Social Security or Medicare if we didn't already have them. If everyone needs a government program, that's good for democracy and bad for politicians who threaten those programs.

Got my updated COVID and flu shots today because I prefer not dying and also fuck RFK jr and this whole willfully ignorant and malicious administration.

Two bandaids, one for my COVID shot and one for the flu. I didn't know which is which, I didn't look.

New article from me where I propose a Pigovian automation tax to slow down the deployment of AI by companies in a way that also creates an incentive for them to embrace shorter workweeks, lower their prices, boost the incomes of displaced workers, and take a healthy step toward Medicare for All.
