NMSU’s Atomic Aggies saw a successful launch at the 2026 IREC, the largest international rocketry competition in the world. Every year, colleges from across the globe send their rocketry teams to compete in the event hosted by the Experimental Sounding Rocket Association.

Grade school students from Las Cruces attended NMSU for a week-long summer program hosted by the College of Engineering. NM PREP Academy is a summer camp for young students who show an early interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, particularly engineering.
