This is very funny, as I distinctly remember sitting in a 2019 meeting with the old WTOP GM as he talked about young families moving to the suburbs and all the reporters/editors in the room who had young families lived in the city (and, AFAIK, still do)

An unspeakably bleak thing happened in my neighborhood tonight, and I’m not ready to share details, but our poor college kid neighbors are extremely shaken up. Just one of those moments where you want to try to help and also nothing you do feels like it will matter.

Growing up on the west coast, with nobody in my orbit who listened to country music, I didn’t have the kind of relationship that a lot of you did with Dolly Parton. She was always someone I was aware of, but who didn’t have any direct impact on my life. Until 3 years ago.

I don’t think a lot of people do. Meanwhile, the dollar was nearly level with the Euro in Jan. 2025 — now it’s at .86. It’s down 8% against the Yuan over the same time period. Your money is becoming worth less in the world market, every day

There's such a pervasive obsession in this country with how great the stock market is doing; I wonder how many people would be shocked to learn that the US stock market is being badly outperformed by the rest of the world, and that's a new thing since January 2025.
