Having the worst months of my life in over a decade. And somehow I'm finding myself reading Gregory Ashe. Which really isn't helping, but I just can't stop reading. Sometimes the ocean screams at you, and you scream back until you lose your voice. But I pity the ocean. It's grieving, too.

Using ChatGPT for self-reflection in-between seeing my psychiatrist, because it's basically journaling if your journal could reply. It doesn't allow me to self-deprecate, and yells at me for eating junk. :'( Technology this days, tsk. Used to be, you're the one yelling at your computer.

I know some folks dislike the word "outcast" when applied to students. However, many of us prefer it actually. And it doesn't mean you've to identify with it. We work with everyone who comes. Everyone deserves a safe learning environment to express and grow. Teaching is a dialogue. We listen, too.

Hypocrisy is one of the worst qualities you can find in a friend. Yes, I'm fine with you being a twat, just do it indiscriminately. If you can't tell something to a person's face, then don't say that where they don't hear. And don't be surprised if I call you out. Banter is fun. Hypocrisy is not.

I want to focus on writing a few posts about presence and the idea of "carrying the atmosphere" for singers. A lot of students find these such difficult concepts, and so many beginners dissappear the moment they step on stage. It needs to be worked on. Apparently some people don't know how to be.
