A fantastic concert from the Riot Ensemble this afternoon at the Wigmore Hall. Committed, virtuosic performances of two very difficult to play pieces by Brian Ferneyhough and Hilda Paredes. Wonderful to hear the Paredes twice and would like to hear it again.

At Weit Weingarten this weekend with Riot Ensemble. Highlight playing with Irvine Arditti in the music of Hilda Paredes. He brings incredible energy to the stage! 💥

I played this absolutely gorgeous Martin Arnold cello piece last night at St Luke’s. All natural harmonics. A comment from a friend afterwards stopped me in my tracks - why did I play the harmonics all in first position. Wouldn’t everybody? Cellists - please tell me what would be your preference!

Rehearsals sounding and looking gorgeous for this concert, especially for Rufus's piece - and it's lovely to work with @noisycellist.bsky.social for the first time and David Alberman for the (I think) third.
