🌿 introducing kibun.social 🌿 kibun (気分) means "mood" in Japanese, and that’s exactly the vibe: no pressure, no performance. just a cozy space to write whatever’s on your mind. whether it’s a passing thought, a feeling you can’t explain, or a moment you want to capture - drop it in and let it live.

v1.6 released - flair it up!

Post flairs are finally here plus Bluesky sharing, link posts, and a few mobile fixes too. Thanks for helping make Nooki feel more alive every week.

When using the “Active” filter on the homepage, posts you open now show new comments by default.

You can now submit links! Nooki will automatically try to fetch the link’s title and details from its meta tags.

Added a “Share to Bluesky” button to posts so you can instantly share any Nooki post to Bluesky.

Fixed an issue where post meta links were hidden on mobile devices.

Post flairs are here! Community creators can now add and manage custom flairs, and when posting, users can select a flair to keep things organized.

Your profile now displays the community where each of your posts was created (previously missing).

🍖 v1.5 released - post thumbnails, comments voting and a revamped editor! A little late on this changelog post, but better late than never 😌 We've got some fresh UI changes, post thumbnails, comments voting, a revamped editor and more!

Comment voting: You can now upvote or downvote comments! Top comments will automatically rise to the top

New ‘Active’ tab on homepage: Find trending discussions faster. This tab sorts posts with the most recent activity

Improved post & comment box: Redesigned for better usability! You can now insert markdown directly from the editor without typing it manually

Post thumbnails: Posts with images will now show a small preview on the homepage so you can spot visual posts at a glance.

General UI/UX updates: A few design tweaks across the site.

Implementing OAuth was quite the headache 😩 I believe I’ve got it all working now, but if you run into anything strange, please do let me know.

🍍 v1.4 released – membership migration, UI refresh & more Another batch of updates! I’ve been thinking about a possible rebrand too. I’m always listening to your feedback, and hopefully, together we can turn this into something really great 💛

Membership records are now stored on your user PDS instead of the community PDS (it was originally there for a few experimental community ideas)

Existing memberships will be automatically migrated to your PDS the next time you log in

Added a new “Following” sort option on the homepage. Now you can see posts from your joined communities more easily

You can now upload images directly from the posting page (still using Catbox for now)

Added pagination to the homepage and timeline pages for smoother navigation

Updated the UI for communities and posts to a cleaner, more familiar layout

Since the name ‘nooki’ doesn’t really appeal to the majority, I’m toying with the idea of rebranding it. If you had to give it a new name, what would you go for? There’s a good chance I will actually pick one from the suggestions.

🌭 v1.3 released - temp image support, improved sorting & more! It’s been quite a busy and tiring few days, but thanks to you all, lots got done 💛 I’ll be taking a short break for a couple of days to rest up a bit. OAuth is nearly complete too, so that’s something exciting to look forward to soon.

🧁 v1.2 released — custom backgrounds, better sorting & more! Huge thanks to everyone supporting Nooki 💛 Didn’t expect this much traction on day one! It’s just me working on it, so there might be a few hiccups. Seen some hate too, but it’s all good. I’ll keep improving things step by step.

Nooki just got a bit cozier 🌙 That dark background was getting kinda dull, so there's now a palette icon in the top right corner that lets you pick from few different lofi backgrounds to set as the background image of nooki. It's only visible to you. Uploading your own image is coming soon too! 🤘

Four screens highlight nooki app variations, each adorned with distinct cozy backgrounds for a comforting atmosphere.

I've just pushed a new update with a bunch of fixes and QoL improvements. Huge thanks to everyone for the amazing support on day one. Your feedbacks, bug reports, and ideas have already helped make things so much better 💛 Lots more improvements and new features are on the way, so stay tuned!

Just started porting nooki, a minimal community platform (think Reddit-alternative) to the AT Protocol and it’s coming along nicely 👀 Planning to launch soon! If you’re excited for a simple, beautiful Reddit-style app on atproto, repost and help spread the word ❤️
