The State Department said ​it takes "full responsibility" for "hastily" altering and then presenting a map of Africa at a global AIDS conference that mislabeled every single country it highlighted. An analysis by Reuters found a watermark in the map image that suggests it was made with OpenAI.

In some European countries climate change is now officially a national security concern. That will change threat assessments, protection focus, and risk analysis. We should do the same to prepare for devastation and especially focus on risk mitigation. Alas.

My husband had to go to the ER in Italy for an infected thumb. They charged 20 Euros. We paid the same at a pharmacy for an antibiotic and bandages. That's less than our U.S. co-pay for an ER visit.

The only potential silver lining in these claims about non-eligible voters is that there are no allegations of people w/ criminal records voting illegally. Not too long ago that was another line of claims about fraudulent voting. Re-enfranchisement laws have had an impact. Not perfect, but better.

The fed clemency system has long had problems for average applicants. Now it's entirely broken. The abuses are galling; the lack of consideration for the deserving demeans those who have been rehabilitating themselves, who've been law abiding, who have been stigmatized for too long w/ a crim record.

My fav stat so far is the inverse relationship between number of fouls and shots on goal. But we all know by now Argentina doesn‘t start to bother shooting at the goal till the 90th minute.

While mistakes are inversely correlated with wins, they are a crude proxy. A stronger independent variable for victory is goal differential.

Good news from Baltimore whose homicide rate hit another historic low. Other violent crimes also continue their downward slide. It's a national trend though effective Baltimore policies approved further upon it. Still lots of work to do. -
