There was a nice aurora here last weekend. I've uploaded a timelapse from the Budle Bay Meteor Cam to YouTube, here's a short clip. You can watch the full length version here... www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lc67... #AuroraBorealis #NorthernLights

Northern Lights, Meteors & Astrophotography in Northumberland, UK. Northumberland LIVE Sky Cameras - https://northumberland-astro.space/sky-cameras/
A nice aurora here on Saturday, so I decided to run a 3 camera livestream combined with live data sources. Never tried this before but it seemed well received with over 10K views & some kind comments. You can watch the recording here www.youtube.com/watch?v=ob7Z... #AuroraBorealis #NorthernLights
After a 2 year hiatus, I'm making an effort to get back to astrophotography. I am using N.I.N.A for the first time tonight, just testing it out under the full moon (target - M15). It's a steep learning curve but seems really good so far (I've come from using APT). #Astrophotography
It's possible to see meteors on any night, even outside of major meteor shower periods, you just have to be lucky ! This morning the Budle Bay Meteor Cam logged 9 meteors between 00:25 and 02:45. 💫 You can view the LIVE Meteor Cams here... www.youtube.com/@Northumberl... #Meteors #Astronomy
I've uploaded a few Perseid meteors from the Sky Cams to YouTube. This is one of my favourites, with a nice green flash and a glowing train, but you can see more here... www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lRs... #PerseidMeteorShower #Meteors #Astronomy
Elon Musk keeps insisting his thousands of satellite's won't be visible or affect our view of the night sky. Well, that's bullshit ! I've given up timelapse photography at night because all of his space junk ruins it. Last night I clicked onto the livestreams & saw this. #Dontbelievethehype
Concentrations of dangerous pollutants from rocket launches and satellite reentries in Earth's upper atmosphere might reach treacherous tipping points if millions of orbiting data centers get launched in the next decade, experts say. #space #sustainability #climate www.space.com/space-explor...
SpaceX wants to put 1 million AI satellites in orbit. What would that do to Earth's climate?
"There seems, in my opinion, to be very little consideration for the environment."

Ran an 'All-Sky' Meteor Cam last night looking for Perseid meteors, it logged 56 meteors and caught some beauties ! You can see the full livestream here + I've timestamped a few of the meteors for easy access. 💫👍 www.youtube.com/watch?v=eg-5... #MeteorShower #Perseids #Astronomy
The peak of the Perseid meteor shower is getting closer. 28 meteors logged across the 2 Meteor Cams last night, the Budle Bay cam points north-west and the Embleton one points south-east. You can view these 24/7 livestreams here.. www.youtube.com/@Northumberl... #MeteorShower #Perseids #Astronomy
The Budle Bay Meteor Cam is now LIVE ! Clear skies forecast for tonight so there might be a chance of some Perseid meteors. 🤞💫 You can view it here... www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NnD... #MeteorShower #Perseids #Astronomy
Did my first 'all-sky' style livestream last night for meteors. I consider it a success, 31 meteors seen despite the clouds and bright moonlight ! You can see it here + there's links in the description to take you to some of the meteors too. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEtT... Same again tonight.🤞💫

Been thinking about livestreaming an 'all-sky' style camera, particularly during meteor showers. Last night I decided to give it a go. Despite the strong moonlight and fairly solid cloud, it still captured at least 7 meteors through the odd gaps. 💫 #MeteorShower #Perseids
Amber LED street lights could save millions of insects. New research shows 1800K amber LEDs cut insect attraction by ~40% compared to standard white LEDs, emitting almost no blue light. The study tracked 71,000 bugs across 6 German railway stations. #LightPollution #Insects #Wildlife #DarkSkies

Do one thing this weekend to help reduce light pollution - check your security lights and angle them correctly downwards to prevent upward light spill, no one is attacking you from space, also check they are not set to sensitive to disturb nightlife animals. #LightPollution #DarkSky #SaveTheNight

Our nocturnal friends need the dark to. Light pollution disrupts the migration and hunting patterns of many animals. By dimming or removing unnecessary lights, we protect our local ecosystems and help keep nature thriving. #DarkSky #AnimalHealth
Another fireball on the Meteor Cam LIVE stream yesterday morning ! Just 24 hours after the last one. Not as large but still impressive + this one left a visible smoke trail. You can view the live sky cams here.. www.youtube.com/@Northumberl... #Meteors #Fireball #Astronomy @imometeors.bsky.social
