Our amazing new team of dormice survey volunteers have been working hard to build monitoring tunnels, learn to ID footprints and survey Ddôl Uchaf Nature Reserve for signs of these very rare mice. This will provide us with vital information for managing the site for wildlife.💚

In a recent black grouse survey at Gors Maen Llwyd Nature Reserve we were rewarded with four calling males - a joint site record! This follows a programme of habitat management funded by Clocaenog Forest Wind Farm and aligns with similar positive records from neighbouring moorland sites this year. 💚

During a winter tree ID walk with our Nature Counts survey group, one of our eagle-eyed volunteers spotted something hiding in the alder catkin. Upon closer inspection in turned out to be an uncommon water ladybird - a first for this reserve! They're known for changing colours seasonally.🐞
