Sometimes it only takes a few kind words to brush away someone’s bad mood. But if it is a deep sadness you might need more than a few. The best thing is to have lots of kind words always ready.

Theo-sophy on that other site. Henry is a Catalan Herding Dog - like Einstein in Back To The Future. He's shy. Mom is a writer and watercolor artist. Art inquiries at notquiteold51@gmail.com
Pardon me for asking, but what kind of company has like 12 employees and 350 bank accounts?
Tweens/Teens today - ages 10-14. We had a couple of extra spots, so we asked 2 of the mothers if they wanted to stay and paint. "YES!" was the answer. And the librarian too.
I’ll be honest. I was a jerk yesterday. But Thor was also a jerk, And so was Niko, And Athena. (and maybe even Dad). So what I thought was “fitting in” was actually “piling on.” Beware of cumulative jerkness - It can hurt. Sorry, Mom.
Mom took FOREVER getting back from Target. It’s on a very busy street, and that means Mom constantly stops to let everyone into her lane. Instead of being cranky from the traffic, she feels like a very nice person. She calls it Making Twelve Second Friends.
There is beauty in chaos. An elegance in disorder. How do you find it? Look around you. If you are in it, there is your magnificence right there.
There’s one In every family - The Complainer. Complaining about the same stuff you have to put up with too. But remember - You actually agree. There’s a lot to complain about. You just cope better. So get out those good coping skills and say, “I know! It’s awful.”
Dad got a great deal on a new capacitor. Everybody in the house is happy. Nobody in the house knows what the heck that is. But here’s the moral: Be happy that not everybody shares your interest or has the same knowledge. Different knowledge benefits you too
It's wonderful to be independent. But if you never ask for help, no one gets to see your Pretty-Please Face. And it is so cute.
There are times when you feel like no one knows you. You are a person of mystery. Your details are hidden. But look! There you are! Your shape is as beautiful in silhouette as in detail.
What a class! 8 adults and 4 kids (age 8-11). I decided to teach them all the same way - as adults. And did they ever come through!
A cute happy photo of Theo showed up in my time line. So I painted him as a cartoon character. #watercolor #line&wash #dogs
You know what takes Confidence and Courage? Changing direction when the way you were going isn’t working for you. Admitting you got lost is the hardest part. Turn around. And if ANYONE calls you a quitter, you let me know. (I will bite them in the butt.)
Sometimes you have so many things to do that you don’t have time for your friends and your family (and pets) And they have to wait for you. Did you know that ‘things’ are much better at waiting than friends and family (and pets)?
Be Impressed. (with yourself) Look at all the scary stuff you did Little scary stuff, like diving off the high dive or trying calamari. And big scary stuff, Like your first job or having kids or learning to live alone. Impressive!
I heard Mom tell Dad that she feels very distracted and foggy this morning. So I tried for a second breakfast. It did not work.
Just 8 kids today - age 8-11. I don't think I've ever had a sweeter batch of kids.
Sometimes I worry that no one likes me - that I’m not good enough. Just kidding. Dogs don’t think that way. Neither do cats. Or birds. Or pigs. Or cows. Or even ants. Humans are the masters of the Animal Kingdom and the only animal who feels inadequate.
You should make the most of every minute of the day. But the most of every minute depends on what you need most in the minute. A lot of the time what you need most is to close your eyes. Using your time wisely can certainly include a nap.
THIRTY (!!) kids today! I had several teen helpers, but 30 kids is A LOT! Here's a sample of their fabulous paintings.
I have two pieces of advice today: 1. Keep your heart open because love might find you and you need to let it in. 2. Keep your bathroom door open so your pets can find you and you need to let them in.
You know who I’d like to bite? The guy who told you you can’t sing. Of course you can sing! Human songs are amazing! Better than birds who sing the same dumb tune over and over. You’ve got millions of songs and your voice is as sweet to me as a sparrow‘s! Sing!
Paint Your Pet workshop today. I can't believe all these sweet faces!
What did you accomplish yesterday? Maybe there’s more than one way to measure Productivity. Not by how much stuff you got done, but by how much stuff you enjoyed.
