She's gone. Just got the call a few minutes ago. Mom has taken it particularly hard. Talking the rest of the family through the ethical and clinical goals of hospice helped them some, at least. Doesn't change the fact that watching a loved one die is HARD. I'm quite sad myself, but I will be OK.

Lost a great aunt to a combination of aggressive colon cancer and strokes on Sunday. Her sister, my grandmother, is in the ICU for congestive heart failure and will not make it out of the hospital without a literal miracle. Just called with the wife and kids in tow to say goodbye. Tough day.
