This past week, I decided to retire my 2013 Camry and purchased a 2024 Ioniq 5 EV and today I took a train ride with @mipsprotogen.bsky.social and picked it up from the dealership. I’m proud to say I am now an EV owner, and I look forward to new adventures with this new car :3

Neat little pair of goodwill finds today - this ~1975 GE “Power Sound” speaker with built in 8 track player and one of those 8 track cassette adapters that @techconnectify.bsky.social did a video of. Needs a little bit of repair though, the electronics are tired and the volume dial is very flaky.
Smart shopping tip for the summer! In these two photos, you see three window ACs, an 8000 btu, a 5000 btu, and an 8000 btu w/inverter. The inverter is the most expensive at $400 but uses the least electricity of all 3. If you can afford the extra cost, the energy savings are worth it. Stay cool!
Did you know lithium ion battery cells can be damaged by charging them while they are hot, reducing their life? Prolonged periods of heavy current draw can heat them up as well, so last night I built this timer to automatically delay the charger for my scooter to allow the batteries to cool first.

Found a 2019 #Roomba at a yard sale this past weekend for just about nothing. I’ve always wanted one! Using #homeassistant to control it too. I will say, watching it wander around the house is like the first time you get a 3D printer, they’re both fascinating to watch at first. Robots are cool.
