Game dev and pixel artist, hoping to meet other furries that do story focused RP. 31, she/her See https://chitter.xyz/@NovaSquirrel or https://novasquirrel.com/contact.html for other sites Check out https://tilemap.town/ - my 2D pixel art virtual world

I want my Dezaemon game to make use of the fact that each of the six levels you make can have their own look, so I need to come up with six level themes, which means I need to find themes that would be recognizable when depicted as terrain/backgrounds at my level of art skill.

I looked at the original Japanese release of SNES Dezaemon and it looks like the fan translation I was using barely does anything. The game is already in English aside from the text on some icons on the main menu, and it generally avoids using text to communicate things in the first place.

Added a quick feature to Tilemap Town where you can set an entity so that clicking on it steps to the next direction in a list of directions you've provided. It does have a more serious use because different directions could be open/close sprites for a door (Brionne from sprites.pmdcollab.org#/0729)

Might try and knock out one last Art Fight attack since I still have today and tomorrow, but after that it's Dezaemon time hehe. Eager to make a very silly shooter game, and see what I can make when I'm actually properly focusing on it instead of procrastinating on something else.

I really liked Drymouth for Game Boy Color (which is inspired by the arcade game Logic Pro 2) and I wonder if there's more nonogram games out there that have an arcade feel with powerups and a design where you're solving puzzles quickly. Maybe that'll have to go on the endless project TODO list.

Trying out Matrix, so I can see what more chat protocols are like: @NovaSquirrel:catgirl.cloud - don't think I need to self host it since I'm already self hosting four chat systems and Matrix seems really heavy to host still This client looks really nice: app.sable.moe

Does anyone know of any active groups that play Minecraft (on creative mode) or Pokopia? I'd really like to build things with people and collaborate on builds without tying it to survival mechanics, and without tying it to a subscription.

I looked at the community Stage Builder stages for Super Smash Bros Ultimate and sorted it by date, and people are just using it as a chatroom at this point. There's a lot of stages titled "to: person's name" that are actually messages to other users that are text with a doodle next to it.

Did a small Tilemap Town update where you can set the music that plays on a map to formats that browsers natively support, instead of just tracker music played through libopenmpt. Someone requested it and it was easy to add. Probably have to upload your MP3s to an external service though.

I want to mostly focus on Art Fight until the event is over, but because it was only a few days of work, I went ahead and added a feature to Tilemap Town where you can get more control on how your avatar is animated. You can finally control animation speed and have a bigger avatar if you want.

I'll be playing in the Splatfest this weekend, probably on the Tactics team. Don't know how much I'll play given how packed this weekend is, but I know I'll play enough to get to the Ruler title like I always do.

I've felt less connected to my squirrel sona Nova and I think it's mostly due to lack of opportunities to use her and interact as her. People take the princess stuff in directions I don't care for, and the hero/mascot stuff is hard to use outside of actual game projects. Hope I can resume those soon

I've been sitting on a wishlist of Tilemap Town database format improvements with the intention of making a new format once I've collected enough, but it's been two years. I remembered that SQLite supports "ALTER TABLE" so the migration code wouldn't even be that hard, so I just did it tonight.

When I inevitably do another proxy shopping order I want to get an AV Famicom so I have something I can plug my Turbo File II into. I know at least one person with a Turbo File and a Famicom and a flashcart who would want to test stuff I make, but it would be cool to see it for myself.

I assume that the back of this Cocoa Loops box putting a toucan named Pluey next to a toucan named Suzy is a cryptic hint about Deltarune chapter 6

I tried RPG Maker 3 for PlayStation 2 since I never had it or tried it as a kid (but had played 1 and 2). Having significantly fewer character models and customization options makes it a lot less enticing than 2, and it seems more limited than 2 in many ways. Fancier graphics though.

Decided to try putting the NES town tileset I made in February to use in a tech demo where you'd be able to make a town, copy it to Turbo File, load it up on a SNES and have fancier graphics. But I don't have time for another project right now so I just got it to the point where it can render a map.
