I can find enough new music to fill an hour or radio every week, but coming up with a mix tape full of fresh musical discoveries for a fellow lady DJ similarly clued-in to the latest and sharing many of the same favorite bands/labels? WAY HARDER

RIP Jeff Conolly of Lyres, who could tear it up onstage til the end. (Here w/Mission of Burma at the tail end of a raucous cover of “No Fun” at his cancer benefit in March.)

Only a few days until our first UK tour. We booked this entirely DIY through the goodwill of the punk/indiepop community. Please try to buy tickets in advance - it will help reassure the kind folk that are putting on the gigs that they haven't made a terrible mistake. Tickets: linktr.ee/neutrals82

As much as I enjoy learning about new bands from Bandcamp’s editorial staff, the gaps in many of these younger writers’ musical education really shows when trying to frame current trends in relation to what’s come before, esp some of the 90s micro-scenes.

From the Bicentennial-Fever-Was-Real Dept: the Bicentennial TV! Spotted at my local Goodwill 20 years ago, as captured by my crappy flip phone camera. Do I still regret not buying this? YES

Last two weeks' worth of radio shows now up online. As international as the World Cup? Perhaps not, but I'm trying! New indie tracks from 🇫🇷🇩🇪🇦🇺🇳🇱🇪🇸🇧🇪🇨🇦🇨🇷🇮🇪🇬🇧🇧🇷 and multiple cities across 🇺🇸—37 bands, 2 hours of music & talk. www.mixcloud.com/nstop/

The indie pop tour of the summer rolled thru Seattle last night, on the big stage of the Crocodile, starting with the good-natured snark and catchy pop of Swansea Sound and the eminently charming and tuneful Umbrellas, the latter of whom shared a number of (super!) new songs.
