ASA mourns the sudden loss of former President Michael Burawoy, who died tragically in Oakland, CA, on February 3. Burawoy received the ASA Distinguished Contributions to Teaching Award and W.E.B. Du Bois Career of Distinguished Scholarship Award. His will be greatly missed.

Our lack understanding of how people’s experiences with state matter for far right support is surprising because a) research suggests that people think that access to public services is crucial to their lives b) far right parties mobilize anti-establishment sentiment: elites are out of touch 2/n
