Cakecritters don't go off because they have a pretty vicious immune system. This is also why any of their hugs quickly become merging.

I have had sona realisations yesterday. Seeing that my sona was fully digital a few years ago, and that they have cybernetics... I think the Digi was meant to be robotic.
