I know the type: • Lives in a neighborhood full of million-dollar homes • Gets angry at mention of "$20/hr for working in fast food" • Complains bitterly about the quality of service at Burger Sovereign Post-payment is just the chef's kiss on a bad deal hashtag-nextdoorthings

Neighbor needed for a quick backyard mow ($40 Zelle or Venmo)

Hi everyone! I need someone with a mower or weedwhacker to knock down the tall grass in my backyard (see pictures). Hoping to find a local neighbor who is already nearby with their gear. To keep things easy, I can send the $40 payment right over to you via Zelle or Venmo as soon as it's finished.

It's an open 4,000 sq ft backyard with zero obstructions (no trees or planters), so the right equipment will make quick work of it. I live in [city] near [intersection]. Budget is $40 firm, as that matches my previous local rates.

If you live close by and want to knock this out quickly, please let me know. Thanks!

Tesla *is* profitable, but very much in trouble. It can only juice sales by cutting prices, the Cybertruck continues to be a boondoggle, and its market share is down to 2017 levels. The high stock price is based entirely on wild promises of robotaxis and humanoid robots.

Nothing like a genAI shill post on linkedin claiming a ~250kW AI rack "only" consumes ~5x as much power as a typical home, drawing maximum power. When in reality the actual spread is ~75x. Just a factor 15 error there guys.

Live in an unremarkable neighborhood of North Dallas Specials. At the ~30yr mark the brick mailbox was about to collapse. Demo'ed it, replaced it with a steel security mailbox. Neighbor about had an aneurism when they saw it and literally yelled at me about it for a good five minutes.

I'm not going to QT but there's a silicon valley NIMBY complaining about maintaining the historical character of Palo Alto and man that place should look like fucking singapore. Market cap of tech companies based in and around there is like $14 trillion and it's full of fucking bungalows? So broken

I'd say it's simple disingenuousness: • Conflation of GenAI spam vs useful machine learning • Furious hand-waving of the cargo cult belief that GenAI will somehow someway transubstantiate into AGI if fed enough "training data" (but mostly trillions of dollars)

There is a certain level of obtuseness in (some) "AI" apologists when they flounce up to point out what "AI" is good for in science, etc, while eliding the fact that almost none of that use is driving the current market capitalization, environmental degradation and resource hogging of the field

If on a 4+ lane divided road approaching a red line and jump out of a line of cars to be the first in line in another lane, *maybe* don't be sitting there with your thumb up your butt for ~10 seconds when the light turns green, eh?

So many tech demos are a video game's beautiful cinematic pre-rendered cutscene against the real thing: the game engine struggling to deliver crude <30FPS assaults to the eyes often failing to *visually* render objects that it reliably *physically* simulates

300mg caffeine energy drinks not cutting it anymore? Now there are fkn 150mg *modafinil* (+60mg caffeine for funsies) beverage shots available from the same people that brought you DTC dick pills and GLP-1s.

104°F air temperature, heat index 114°F. With the sun low on the horizon standing still in the shade the sweat glands *just* hold their fire. Toasty for DFW. And I'm sure it's hotter in Phoenix.

I abused animals as a kid. Distinctly remember the moment I stopped when I *fully* realized I was causing another being to suffer. Folks supporting ICE, etc persecution of The Other™ I wonder if they had such an epiphany and if so what mental gymnastics rationalize said support.

There's some tipping point when the "line goes up" sociopaths, regime sycophants, and grifters become so prominent against being told to embrace blinkingly-obvious systemic problems and worsening quality-of-life where the despair begins to set in

it’s never a great sign for your society when all the competent people who believe in doing a good job for the sake of it conclude that they’re actively being punished for these qualities, while malignantly stupid criminals are making bank
