You know so far I've had 3 books come out, and I've had dozens of reviews published, and I've even been lucky enough to have received some really thoughtful reviews of my books...but I think this is the first time I've ever seen a review of my work IN a book.

Come on out this Saturday August 1 from 2-4pm EST to the Leamington Public Library where MA|DE's own Mark Laliberte will be a featured reader alongside Melissa Powless Day! Hosted by Souwesto Poetry Review!
I like this photo Mark @originobscure.bsky.social took of me spontaneously several weeks ago: the ardent tiled wall of a local bar we happened to be walking past; the bright ANOMIA palette of a secondhand dress I was wearing for the first time; how I know that this was taken at the end of an...

Things I'd identify as priorities include: environmental protection & climate crisis mitigation, more renewable energy/fewer fossil fuels, finally ending water advisories on reserves, affordable housing, fairer migrant rights, robust arts granting & strong legislative guardrails on AI. YMMV.

The collab review bar has been set very high with this one! 👇
Our first COLLABORATIVE REVIEW! While Mark & Jade have each written their fair share of solo reviews, this is the first time MA|DE has tried writing one together. And what a pleasure it was to spend time contemplating @paulvermeersch.bsky.social's NMLCT from @ecwpress.bsky.social (2025).
Half of MA|DE has a new book of poetry coming out this fall!

🌈Team non-binary and never going back. 😈😈😈
From the study: "The majority (97.1%) of adolescents continued to identify with a gender not typically aligned with their birth sex. Only 2.9% reverted to a gender identity aligned with their birth sex. None who initially identified as non-binary returned to binary gender aligned with birth sex."

Was quite surprised & delighted to find that my poem "We Go Down to the Sea of Myrrh," which opens with the ever so endearing line, "Molly, I hate your husband" (& which appeared in @cv2magazine.bsky.social), will be in Best Canadian Poetry 2027. Many thanks to @tolu.ca, Anita Lahey & Biblioasis.

Yesterday @originobscure.bsky.social & I had a very nice day: went to an annual town-wide yard sale in the county; visited an art gallery with our friends; & then I did a little reading in Leamington alongside @dalockhart.bsky.social, who gave a high-energy & educational performance as always.

☀️📚If you're near Leamington this coming Saturday June 6 between 2 & 4pm, I hope you'll join us at Essex County Library (Leamington branch) for a free poetry reading! I'm very honoured to be featuring alongside @dalockhart.bsky.social for the inaugural event of Parnassus Poetry Series.
Always an absolute pleasure to review some poetry for @malahatreview.bsky.social, spend some time with @zoewhittall.bsky.social's work, and muse about the porous genre boundaries of poetry. Here are some excerpts from my review of No Credit River from @bookhugpress.bsky.social.
MA|DE was recently interviewed by @robmclennan.bsky.social for TOUCH THE DONKEY about the context for our poems in TTD, how these poems fit in the trajectory of our work, how collaboration affects our solo practices, our influences and inspirations and the future of our work.
We have 6 poems in the 49th and latest issue of @robmclennan.bsky.social's Touch the Donkey, including the 2 pictured here. These are from our forthcoming collection, Detourism (@palimpsestpress.bsky.social, 2028). Many thanks to rob for putting this issue together and including us!
