Insightful conversation about leadership, mentoring, and psychological safety with @matthewbarr.co.uk - an amazing and inspiring academic, mentor, ally, and supporter, all thanks to @gerifitz.bsky.social for having us in the thoughtful space of her Changing Academic Life podcast!

This was a really fun (& sometimes unexpected) conversation about academic leadership. Feels weird to share, but I'm glad to have been invited onto the podcast by @gerifitz.bsky.social (at the suggestion of the wonderful @oanamandrei.bsky.social). changingacademiclife.captivate.fm/episode/oana...

Best hair in the room for once! ๐Ÿ˜Had so much fun with a Van de Graaff generator earlier this week, last time was about 20 years ago in Paris at the Palais de la Decouverte. And obvs listening now on repeat my favourite songs of Van der Graaff Generator and Peter Hammill like in my Uni days ๐ŸŽถ

This week I attended two EDI events: in Leeds discussing findings on gendered microaggressions in CS and in Sheffield learning from EDI leaders on Athena SWAN Gold in Chemistry at York and CS at UCL, and EPSRCโ€™s EDI strategy. It was great to network with like-minded peers and EDI leaders in STEM!
