there is another who lives one heartbeat ahead of me touching the bark before I call it oak feeling the cold stream before I remember the word water at midnight our footsteps become indistinguishable #poetry
wind moves through tall grass all my names for the moving arrive after it #haiku

I pointed at the moon and the word arrived first standing there blocking the view
every definition casts a shadow sometimes that’s the only part we remember
when at last there is no choice but to act attention that rarest hunger stands beside us in the storm light not asking to be fed only asking that we stop turn toward the world and not take even sorrow for ourselves #poetry

this morning Canada arrived in Virginia without ever crossing the road a forest became atmosphere became the pale veil over our familiar trees and we stood beneath it checking the air quality how often do we mistake another country’s grief for weather? #poetry
i am ashamed of how often i pass through as if the world were a corridor and i a man late for a meeting yet the smallest scene contains its own republic its laws its citizens of dust and light i look and for a brief moment i belong to it #poetry
