which is why your main focus should remain on the mystery. waving a hint of romance into the story might be a refreshing challenge, and i find romance much more appealing when it isn't the entire focus of the story anyway. it feels much more natural.

you should definitely go with that romantic ending you mentioned to me before. but since your readers aren't looking for romance, it should remain in the background, subtle but definitely there.
