THE LEAGUE OF LOST PETS: ORIGINS by Nikki Harwood - Middle Grade 160 pages.

Three sample full color comic pages featuring a pink Axolotl, Kip, and a blue Axolotl, Azula.

Page 1
Panel 1: The shore of a creek near some trees and a fenced in pasture. There's a hollowed out tree with a sign over the entrance. A fallen hollow log is partially submerged in the creek and Kip sleeps inside. Azula swims up saying, "Kip! Kip! I need your help!"
Panel 2
A grumpy Kip with closed eyes says, "Hmmm... But I'm sleeping."
Panel 3
Azula at the log replies, "You're talking! That means you're awake!"

Page 2
Panel 1: Kip exasperated says, "Azula, I didn't want to go on one of your adventures."
Panel 2: A concerned Azula says, "Wait... Why not?"
Panel 3: Now awake and frustrated, Kip says, "We're lost because of one of your adventures!"

Page 3
Panel 1: Azula on top of the log waves at the scenery and says, "That same silly adventure brought us here... To the League of Lost Pets!"
Panel 2: Azula looks down at the curled up Kip. Kip says, "Yup, and I don't want to get lost again."
Panel 3: Azula hangs down in Kips line of sight saying, "Well, the adventure part is over."
Panel 4: Azula drops off the log and splashes into the water. She exclaims, "I found treasure!"

Additionally there are 6 lost pet posters.
Kip & Azula (A pink Axolotl and a blue Axolotl) -went the wrong way while seeking adventure.
Jeff (palomino horse)-Not actually lost, just confused.
Buttons (grey bunny with round glasses)-Smart but directionally challenged.
Duchess Brunhilda Mistfall (Hilda) (grey long haired cat)-Always returns... eventually.
Myrtle (weary turtle)-Waited a long time to be found *her poster is torn in several places.
Gordoto (chunky orange and cream hamster)-Hunger led him astray.Top left shows a comic panel with a pink pig with black spots on his bum staring up at the boy sitting next to him. The boy in green shirt and jeans reaches out of the panel into a glitchy panel towards a mockup of the book CHANCHO THE PORTENTOUS which shows the same pig sitting in front of a kitchen oven smelling freshly baked cookies. The steam from the cookies spells out the title. Across the kitchen floor it says Written by Johnell DeWitt and Illustrated by Nicole Harwood. To the left in an attached glitchy panel it says "Middle Grade
128 pages
Modern day DON QUIXOTE for reluctant readers & gamers"
Across the bottom of the image are 3 sample full color comic pages The pages show Lonnie and Chancho gearing up with items found on the farm, which look like special game artifacts to Lonnie. They then charge for the ram guarding the final treasure they need. But the ram spots them, they run away. Lonnie goes for a tree and Chancho jumps into a wheelbarrow full of manure which the ram hits and knocks over. CRASH! Chancho is buried in manure. In the tree, Lonnie realizes the apples are Fruit of Invisibility and could save Chancho. He tosses an apple to Chancho, but it bounces off the wheelbarrow and away. The ram follows the apple. Which gives Lonnie enough time to meet up with Chancho and set their plan to get the magical staff in motion as Chancho shakes off the manure. The final panel is the 2 seen from above. Lonnie ready to get the staff and Chancho apprehensive.

Iconic character moment from the play #2 I had drawn my initial sketch, inked it... then decided it would look better in color. Chameleon Color Tones alcohol-based pens to the rescue - until I got too close to the recently inked outline and left her with a 5 o'clock shadow. #drawing #art #artist
