My theory continues to be that this isn’t the only case of this… and it may even be common place throughout Sports. At least in those that have salary caps. It may be why this deal has been so slow to come to a conclusion.

Jon Hamm@jonhamm.bsky.social · 2w agopretty interesting how I skimmed right past the financial aspect of the Dort trade and went into the Basketball Reasons behind it, and then Sam Presti tells The Oklahoman -*on the record* for the first time in who knows how long outside of media availability- that the move was *all* about finances.
I agree with this. Feels like we may see a smaller version of the post Giddey bump. Take a small hit on defense but should see a good jump offensively. The younger guys have to play, growing pains and all.

Cason Wallace still around for point-of-attack defense. Ajay Mitchell is ready. McCain deserves minutes. OKC needs to see what Topic is.

That’s the difference in the tax bands by shedding roughly $15.5M in one trade. And of course, under the second apron now too. Cason Wallace extension next?
