After a report, published in 2010 by Oxford City Council, identified “loss of traditional stone boundary walls” as a particular vulnerability in Headington Quarry Conservation Area, Oxfordshire County Council has decided to take down a stone boundary wall and replace it with a metal railing.

“You know it’s wrong so please move along!” Children and parents at Windmill Primary School and Headington Nursery School staged a protest this morning against inconsiderate and dangerous driving outside school. They cite the volume of cars coming off the ring road and cutting through these streets.

Thank you to all who came to support our Open Gardens event on a hot sunny afternoon yesterday. Income from this event helps the Friends in its support of the Conservation Area, as we have done for over 65 years now. We also support other local charities with aims and objectives similar to our own.

A modern block of flats in Headington may have to be demolished after a planning inspector concluded the original building plans were misleading. The plans mis-stated the height of the music shop next door, such that the final building was built “significantly taller than planned”.
