Veteran & Methodist (he): Pro-choice; pro-dismantling racism; anti-fascism and anti-totalitarian rule; anti-releasing CO₂ to the air (I'm fine with renewable fuels & sequestration); and pro-human & LBGTQ rights. If God is Love (She is), then ACT LIKE IT.
I really like "Spider-Man: Brand New Day." Not like I loved "The Odyssey" or "Project Hail Mary," but I really enjoyed it like I enjoyed "Supergirl." I did not think my theater pennies misspent. ^_^
Like, Jesus, dude
This "taxation without representation" and illegal withholding of funds designated by Congress is illegal and anti-American AF. But I think that we have seen that his cultists WANT stuff that is illegal and anti-American, as long as it is also hateful. I'm old. Good luck, y'all!

Opinion: In my view, it's important to note that Dr. Okorafor's Africanfuturism aesthetic highlights African science fiction, etc., without the framing of the Diaspora. I love it. But I do ALSO love Milton Davis' MVMedia and its Afrofuturism, Steamfunk, and Sword and Soul. Both enrich my world.
I am so tired of correcting people who call my work afrofuturism. But what’s the alternative? Sitting and tolerating my own cultural erasure? That’s not an option. 😒 #afriCANfuturism
Very good to see, in my opinion. (I do have a bias: dismantling racism and promoting equality are goals that my religious denomination, the United Methodist Church, pursues as Biblical. And you can't legally discuss how to break four centuries of racism, and more of misogyny, if it's outlawed.)
BREAKING: Eleventh Circuit, on a 2-1 vote, upholds injunction blocking Florida from enforcing its 2022 Stop WOKE Act in the university context. The majority opinion is from Judge Britt Grant, a Trump appointee: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
Sharing. Honestly, from today's "ethnic cleansing" by ICE (genocide) to the midnight knock on the door and illegally "disappearing" people without a public trial, many GOP leaders favor Stalin's Communist tactics. (The Nazis and Italian Fascists were far right; the Soviets far left. All were evil.)
Since Trump wants the big issue in the midterms to be "communism," I'm reupping this thread about how Trump and the Republicans want to rule like Stalin and the Soviets.
Take note: • Forecast is 100°F (38C). • Limit is one bottle of water per person entering. • Four hydration stations will be set up for an estimated 150,000 attendees. See why I call the GOP the "Pro-Death Party"?
Authorities are imposing a limit of “one bottle of water per person” for attendees on the DC Mall. This is on July 4, when the temp will exceed 100 degrees. Checkpoints open at 1 pm. Fireworks don’t start til after 1030 pm. Good luck to our EMS friends. www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/202...
The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) has the LHC offline for upgrade to HiLumi configuration after 2030, which is neat. (I don't blame the stone marten -- the woozle -- for this horrid timeline. I blame my country's misogyny and misogynoir and worship of the Epstein class. :P )
#FunFact: After 12 years in operation, a record amount of data and thousands of scientific results, the LHC is taking a break. Watch the complete livestream to find out more about it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVwz...
Wow! ❤️ Quoting NPR: "And when it was all over and the 44-year-old Williams had performed admirably in a three-set defeat to an opponent less than half her age in the opening round of Wimbledon with her two daughters cheering her on, Williams smiled as she walked off to a loud round of applause."

I really liked Supergirl and hope to see it again. I wish that I were aghast at all of the hate by boys of all ages, but we are hypersocial apes who sometimes follow the crowd a bit too much. (I will admit that I have taken to referring to it and Superman as Krypto 1 and Krypto 2, irrespectively.)
See #Supergirl in theaters now.
On 28 June 1969 police raided a gay bar in New York's Greenwich Village: the Stonewall Inn. The Stonewall Uprising began. A year later the Christopher Street Liberation Day Parade began our traditions of Pride. PBS: www.pbs.org/wgbh/america...

Greenwich Village's Stonewall Inn has undergone several transformations in the decades since it was the focal point of a three-day riot in 1969.

When I was born, the rights of many LBGTQIA+ Americans weren't recognized by state and federal governments, and open discrimination was encouraged. The Stonewall Uprising, just over three weeks before the Moon Landing, changed that. Remember its heroes. PBS (10 June 2023) pbs.org/wgbh/america...

In 1969, homosexuality was illegal in almost every state... but that was about to change. The Stonewall riots marked a major turning point in the modern gay civil rights movement.

This helps illustrate why I don't like the "law and order" crowd: they have no respect for the actual law, much less concepts like equality and justice.
“Who cares?” is the honest default Trumpist position on law. When it benefits us or hurts our enemies, the law, when it doesn’t, who cares?
Downsizing now would be a bad, bad choice. (Which might be intentional: people often tolerate more totalitarian measures in times of stress and crises.)

1621: His people decimated by leptospirosis, the Wampanoag Confederacy's Massasoit Sachem, Ousamequin, made a mutual defense treaty with the Pilgrims of Plymouth. 1636: Ousamequin sheltered Roger Williams, whom the Puritans exiled for preaching freedom of religion; Williams founded Rhode Island.

This is an amazing thing (and well needed).
Tucked in New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s sprawling universal childcare plan is a little-talked-about milestone: In September, the city will open what appears to be the first free daycare for municipal workers in the country.
