Maaaaaan. Who knew the Legend of Mana soundtrack was this good?? 🎶 Where was I all this time
Why is the *official* install step for the @github.com CLI so complex it takes 5 minutes just to decipher what it does? Can they not push their package to the core APT repository, instead of hosting their own? The install step should literally just be "sudo apt install gh" like every other pkgs
I realized that nowadays I dread having to make phone calls. Not because I don't like talking on the phone. On the contrary. But because I know I'm going to have to wrestle a dumb AI assistant for 15 minutes to have it finally transfer me to a darn human being. Please get me out of this timeline.
I'm not a coffee snob, but if I order a mocha and I see you pick up a bottle of Hershey's syrup, that's my last time in your coffee shop 😔
Hotels will tell me that they're "eco-friendly" by not providing me a change of sheet, but then in the same face will blast my A/C all day so that my room stays at a freezing 17 degrees
Why is it that if I get a very basic men's haircut in most places downtown Toronto it costs me $50, but if I walk over a couple blocks to Chinatown they'll do the exact same cut for $15? 🤔
Pedestrianized streets in Montreal are something else! All the business patios were full of customers, and tons of people were laughing, chatting, and dancing in the street. Who wouldn't want more of this in their city?
Explain your @ My name is Olivier I'm Canadian, eh? And I'm a dev
Watching a parody video about the Amazon Alexa (I think) and the phrase fabricated techno babble came up so I thought it was a domain worth buying. Now I do DevRel, so it fits. Explain your @
Went to Whistler for the first time this weekend... No one told me it was actually just a walkable city! Beyond the parking lots at the very edge of it I did not see a single vehicle while wandering the town and it was GREAT
The Union-Pearson (UP) trains have multiple screens inside, but why aren't they utilized? If it was me I'd list the stations, which station we're approaching, ETA to the terminus (whether the airport or Union), etc. Instead all they do is state the current time 🤷 Does anyone know why?
I get those who prefer window seats, and I get those who prefer aisle seat, and I get middle seats when you're with others But this solo person at 18B specifically took a middle seat when there were plenty of windows and aisles to choose from and I don't understand Tempted to take 18C so I can ask
Sounds like I'm taking a week off of work in spring 2027 🙂↕️

Dang it, it finally happened! My Uber driver wished me a safe flight and I said "you too" 😭
I'm in Austin, TX right now and it's renewing my conviction that I truly am a northern person. I spent 5 minutes outside not moving (standing) and I was already sweating 🥵 And there are people that live here year round!? Whoa--
Following-up from my previous article about strategies to get hold of hard-to-get accelerators, here's a quick guide I wrote that describes how to build Kubernetes applications that are resilient to interruptions and evictions. 🐳 dev.to/googlecloud/...

Back on my Kubernetes writing train! 🚂 There are a few different ways to get access to hard-to-get hardware accelerators, but how do they differ? And which one to use for what use-case? I wrote a quick guide answering these questions and more! dev.to/googlecloud/...

I find it intriguing how "unaware" the average traveler is of free perks. The free CBP MPC app allows you to completely skip the queue at US immigration, for example. I also still see people take their credit cards out to pay for in-flight WiFi which is free with a (also free) Aeroplan account.
Every street in Kensington Market is a dozen trucks and then 200 people walking on top of each other because the sidewalks are so narrow. Seriously, why is it designed like this? It's Saturday afternoon, the entire thing should be fully pedestrianized no?
My son and I had an awesome tour of Google’s new Toronto campus thanks to @olivi-eh.dev We had some great discussions around Gen Z and AI, Gen Z and careers in CompSci, Kubernetes, and walkable neighborhoods!
I don't know what black magic Apple cast on their battery life but it's so ahead of the game of competitors, it's crazy My MacBook lasts literally all day (8+ hours), and I just watched a full hour of TV series on my iPad and during that entire time it only dropped from 100% battery to 97% 🤯
I have a 9:30am flight today, so I thought I'd take transit to it as usual ... Wait what do you mean the TTC doesn't start running until EIGHT on Sundays?? North America's 4th largest city btw

The guy sitting beside me in the bus is literally just copy pasting all of his homework questions in ChatGPT and copying the answers. Not feeling so great about the education level of the next generation.
