Splatoon Raiders is so bad for my health I'm awake at 4am with a LAN tomorrow morning and I'm thinking about damage maximizing and how many repeat activations on freeze meteor mitt is optimal and at what point knockback vs damage is preferable all at 500 levels further than where I am now

playing splatoon 3 multiplayer for the first time since raiders. damn I really do not miss the: - latency - codependence - speed everything kills you - having to deal with your weapon not painting under you - maps - matchmaking downtime - specials that are 1/3 as frequent and feel 1/3 as powerful

Raiders isn't the first game to struggle with this, but the cycle of [use playstyle -> rewarded by power in that playstyle] always results in an eventual barrier to experimentation, either forcing a grind or a whole other playthrough if you want to effectively try something new

you know it's real when the spreadsheets come out are there any particularly notable attributes I'm missing?

Fortune's Weave Direct shows the strengths and weaknesses of game-specific directs It hyped me up by exploring some of its mechanics more than a trailer (answering key questions) while playing lots of awesome music But the 2nd half kinda overshared and made me lose interest in the game again

Don't be fooled, even though it's called the "speed" tank, it's the coolest to play with the slowest weapons

for better or for worse splatoon raiders is the first nintendo switch 2 game where I'm getting serious mileage out of a back button on the switch 2 pro controller (L -> GR) ZL is too valuable to take my index finger off of so assigning my three main weapons to R ZR and GR makes sense

did squiffer even get playtested in this game the paint inconsistencies are TERRIBLE it's not worse than base splatoon 3 but it's noticeable EVERYWHERE guess I'm not playing chargers in this game
