Given how much Kojima wanted to 'blur the lines between movie and game' with Physint, perhaps it just became too expensive for Sony to see the return? Especially given it's still like five years away, likely next-gen. Or maybe they just didn't fancy another game with eight hours of cutscenes. 😅

Today is one year since I was laid off by TheGamer. It's been a terrible year, and not having a job has made it so much harder. The games media industry is dead for all but a handful of people at a handful of sites; hundreds of job rejections later, I think I'm screwed. Hire me for anything.

I’m over at @gamespot.com again, this time writing about GTA 6 and the responsibility of Rockstar to deliver a truly nuanced female protagonist in Lucia Caminos. After a history of male protagonists and bad misogynistic habits, I’m hoping it sticks the landing. www.gamespot.com/articles/aft...

After Decades Of Making Us Play As Men, GTA 6's Lucia Has A Lot To Prove

Lucia Caminos could change the course of female characters in video games.

I have no nostalgia for OOT, or any Zelda game other than Minish Cap, so I have no skin in the game, but this looks fine? Not sure how a blocky, polygon-based game could be updated in a way that keeps everyone happy while also appealing to new players, which it's probably meant to do more.

The last seven games I've played... Xenoblade Chronicles: DE - 195 hrs Final Fantasy XII - 185 hrs Crimson Desert - 275 hrs Octopath Traveler - 180 hrs Octopath Traveler II - 165 hrs Dragon Quest VII Reimagined: 95 hrs Romancing SaGa 2: RotS- 110 hrs I really need to play some shorter ones. 🤣💀

It's not a Final Fantasy game if you don't get utterly obliterated in a scripted battle early doors... Normally I don't play demos of games I'm 100% buying anyway, but curiosity got the better of me. Having so much fun, it's completely my jam.

Lasswell and Rain face off against Umbra in Final Fantasy Resonance. The characters are represented in stunning pixel art. In the background, a castle courtyard burns. Lasswell and Rain get utterly obliterated by one of Umbra's special moves in Final Fantasy Resonance. They take 99999 damage each, with the move represented by an explosion of bright pink light that almost fills the whole screen.

Gamescom is over so a quick reminder than I'm looking for work and can be reached at jadekingfreelance@gmail.com. I've been purposefully off the radar for a few weeks just to give myself a break but I'll be firing off a few emails today reminding people that I exist and want to write cool shit 👋

Can't decide which game to pick up in the Switch sales, Yakuza Kiwami 3 or Persona 3 Reload.. Pretty much all I've played this year are RPGs, so part of me wants something a little different, but then I've never played P3...
