I'm gonna be thinking about that Natasha Cloud spin move into a reverse layup all night. So smooth.

The Storm have lost a lot of games this year. But this week alone we have seen glimpses of the future in great individual performances from Flau'jae Johnson and Dominique Malonga. This team has been in games late more often than not this year. They're going to be so much better next season.
Olivia Miles has had a tremendous rookie season. Deadria Clarke joined me to put it in context and discuss the importance of the Lynx ecosystem around her development.
Marina Mabrey body language and mannerisms are absolute cinema lol
Me when an opportunity to reference How I Met Your Mother in an article about basketball presents itself.

This is something I've learned in recent months. Not everything needs to be written about from me. I feel like it's part of growing as a writer
As a writer I try to remember that the fact that something annoys me personally does not necessarily make that thing important enough to write about
Sadly BlueSky has a video length limit so I have to share the IG link here. My pod clips are usually 3 minutes or less, but this answer from Deadria Clarke deserved the full answer in the clip. www.instagram.com/reel/DboJYxO...

I really love watching the Valkyries play. Such a fun brand of basketball.
I don't usually take away anything profound or meaningful from superhero movies, because in my view they aim to offer surface level entertainment (which they are really good at doing). 1/2
For years, the Knicks dreamed of landing a superstar, of a sort of basketball salvation. Those failures were vanquished by this year's title. The team that was once undesirable is now desired. Wrote more about this dynamic shift in my latest for Knicks Fan TV knicksfantv.beehiiv.com/p/the-end-of...
The End of the Knicks Superstar Fantasy

Jessica Shepard is having a breakout season in Dallas, making her first All-Star game as one of the elite playmaking forwards in the WNBA. Her ascent is a reminder of the importance of opportunity and benefits when you seize it. Wrote more about Shepard in my latest essay below 👇
One of the challenges of being bilingual living in a place where a lot of speakers of your second language is a lack of practice. My command of Arabic is still decent but definitely nowhere where it used to be.
Interesting stat that I just came across. Among players this season that have attempted at least 40 mid-range attempts, the top three in efficiency from that zone all play for the same team: the Dallas Wings.
This back and forth post game mastery duel between A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart has been absolute theater man. Just two masters of their craft showing what they are capable of. Gotta love it!
Have really liked what I’ve seen from Pauline Astier tonight. That first dribble on the crossover has been so lethal, and she’s been converting consistently at the rim going 5/7 inside.
A’ja just doing A’ja things in that third quarter. Incredible!
Toronto has been giving Minnesota all the free throw line middies that they've wanted tonight. And the Lynx have made them pay going 6/9 from that range. When it's your night, it's your night!
So I was doing research for a piece and was looking up assist rate for Fs and Cs this season. WHAT DO YOU MEAN Alyssa Thomas has an assist rate of 45%?!? For context, Jessica Shepard (the subject of my piece) is second. What’s her asisst rate? Oh great question! It’s 24.7%. An insane disparity!
Something I've noticed in the Wings games I've watched, is that they haven't learned how to close games yet. They panic a bit when they face press, miss FTs, and just make some mistakes (like tonight's reckless closeout). One hell of a win for the Dream, but it felt like Dallas gave this one away.
This right here is why I stopped using Google Docs
Freakin Gemini showing up in my Google Docs this morning
This Jessica Shepard v Angel Reese matchup has been so good. Just two incredibly high level frontcourt players executing in different ways. Love to see it.
Angel Reese's positioning as a rebounder is so unmatched. Just text book boxing out techniques over and over again.
